I have a query, I just bid on Ebay for this gorgeous baby, its a stetson but what variant, does anyone know? View attachment 626504

Hard to tell from just one image but it looks alot like my Stetsonian 5X. Not real old but still a nice hat.

Great hat and accoutrement!

And I love that phrase “extra angefertigt” on the sweatband. I’m not sure how to translate it (I want to say “specially finished” ie, finished more remarkably than normal - but I wonder if it doesn’t mean “specially produced”, ie, a special order?) The phrase really rolls off the tongue, though.

Extraordinary, for sure (another great German word: aussergewoenlich!). Thanks as always for sharing your wonderful collection!
Nathan, Thank you too! I think it's "specially produced for" Carl Kellner Hamburg. Matt might have a better take if he sees this post. Carl Kellner Hamburg was a top retailer going way back so they had pull. Similar to Breiter München and some others.

Interesting Side Note: I discovered (2016) that Konrad Adenauer actually wore a P. & C. Habig Wien Homburg Hat. The Gotisches Haus (Gothic House) Hat Museum, Bad Homburg vor der Höhe thought the Bonn retailer Hellings was the hat manufacturer. I asked if I could see the inside of Adenauer's Homburg Hat so they removed it from the case (see link below). It's not surprising because P. & C. Habig Wien was considered the highest of quality for Homburg Hats, Stiff Felts and Silk Top Hats.

You're right, Steve & Nathan: I think the best translation would be »specially produced for« in the way of »custom made for«. In my understanding, it means that in this case Carl Kellner is not ordering from a catalog of hats offered by Habig like other hat sellers, but is ordering this hat according to his own wishes and ideas. It is also conceivable that it was the special wishes of a customer that Kellner passed on to Habig. In any case, no other retailer had "exactly this model" on offer.

P. & C. Habig Wien, Special Zefir, possibly early to mid 1950s. Specially made for Carl Kellner, Hamburg, Germany. This Soft Felt has an interesting Form and Bow design. The Felt is light in weight and very pliable. I found this Soft Felt back in 2013.

A beauty, Steve. Looking at the catalog it always impresses me how many bowler styles there were.

That awesome Steve! What a great looking hat! So cool they let you look at it.

Excellent, thanks for the translation verification gentlemen!

Well, this is it for the beloved Mallory Ten. Into storage he goes. I mean, it’s too hot for him for the next couple of months anyway, but putting him in storage and leaving the country is a hard choice to make.

But right now I am kicking it around the house in this great US Army crusher cap. I have a small collection of these guys but I forgot I had this one - probably because when I first purchased it, it didn’t fit my long-haired hippy head. Now it does and I think it looks great with both the Schott A-2 and the Trojan cross-zip.

It is unbranded but does have what looks to be a patent number, suggesting it might be from the fifties or older, but the quality of the plastic liner tip suggests something newer and possibly even a reproduction. Whatever it is, it’s darn good quality and fun to wear - and it’s always fun to find hats you don’t even remember buying!

Feeling a bit hoarse after a tense battle to continue the All Blacks 30 year and (now) 49 game streak at Eden Park.

Sorry @Steve1857, but what a game. Bring on the Boks!
Damn, I missed that one, Gary. Congrats.

Rugby isn't big over here in Denmark, sadly. So what with the Euros, Wimbledon, Tour de France, Copa America, not to mention the build up to the Olympics, there's been no mention of the game or this tournament over here.

I follow English news sites, too, but there's not been anything there about it either.

Anyway, good luck against the Spring Boks.

Nice Strat Milan by the way :)
