What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Nice tall crown, Steve, or so it looks. Is that common on that brand?

J. Hückel´s Söhne "Durit", possibly late 1920s and made for the French Market. I found this one back in July and it's one of my better recent finds. This is the first time I got a chance to wear it.

JHS , Hat Factory, Neutitshein , September 1920. This was a post WWI change.

Sun came out after several days of rain, but the wind was stiff out of the NNW. Chose to go with something with a shorter brim. Of course if it was raining I could go with a wider brim. But then I couldn't wear it at night. But it was daytime, so no night sun to worry about.

Brim up or brim down? I felt like brim up, but I wasn't going to be ordering food from the waitress at the diner. So I guess brim down then? What a conundrum. And then the epiphany came to me. I looked down at my wrist, the hand sans glove, and saw WWJD. And I asked myself, "Self, what would Jackson do?"

Good thing I'm not going out tonight for some jazz. This brim is still too long at 2-1/8".

Randy, It depends on the style. You can snap the brim with this one but my feeling it was worn brim up. I have some JHS Soft Felts with taller crowns but I think the sporty JHS Snap Brims were popular. I will wear some of the taller crown JHS Soft Felts in the coming weeks.

A Gannon Wanderer (inspired by the Stetson of same name) was my choice for a walkabout. This charcoal beaver felt fedora was my first Gannon.

A cap fights the wind when sipping coffee on the deck.

Home yesterday late evening and scampered around under a Stetson Fifteen. A glorious hat that by the time I grabbed a pic to share it was camouflaged with new snow.

A Gannon Wanderer (inspired by the Stetson of same name) was my choice for a walkabout. This charcoal beaver felt fedora was my first Gannon.
