Recent eBay find. No particular vintage and a little more taper than I would normally care for, but I like it's casual effect. Also like the deep green ribbon to it, goes nicely with this particular blazer and my Alama Mater colours.

Wish I'd taken a better shot, but this is from a few weeks ago, when I did a couple of quick shots to sell this hat on eBay. Sad to see the old boy go. He was the first brimmed hat I bought for myself. (Previously, at around the age of eleven, I had for a couple of years a hat that came from a bag donated to charity; furfelt, probably an Olney - unlined, snowflake shape venting in the sides of the crown. Wish I still had it! Probably 1950s or 1960s, given it was just seen as an old-fashioned, second hand hat in 1985ish....). This black one I bought for all of twenty pounds in Debenhams Department Store, Belfast branch, in September 1992. All wool, unlined, textile sweatband. I wore it as a Going Out hat for many years and it held up well. I think it was last worn to a cabaret night in 2006, before I got my first furfelt fedora. I was a little misty-eyed putting him in the box to be posted off to the winning ebayer, but he'd been tucked away in a wardrobe unworn for well over a decade and it seemed wrong not to set him free for someone else to enjoy. I got a nice note in from the buyer confirming he is indeed off to a new home where he'll be appreciated and adventure anew. Maybe he'll even eventually lead the new owner here as his journey with me ultimately led.

That's really nice. May I ask for pics of the inside?
Here you go Jim. The liner is a bit hard to read under the tip, but it says, in French:

Hatter to his majesty the king Edward VII

Then its address on the very fashionable Place Vendôme in Paris.

The hat is from the 40s, Edward VII died in 1910, so Gelot certainly milked its connection to their royal customer.

Yesterday I received my new Randolph Engineering Rx sunglasses. Imagine how delighted I am, knowing Vlad Putin also has a nearly identical pair, gifted from President Biden!

Still sporting my Black Sheep Hat Works pure beaver. Vlad needs one of these, too! 75EBC45D-4522-4268-87D4-8CD5431C076A.jpeg
WAY better than Ray Bans, IMO. USAF specs.

Patterson & Co long hair stingy brim with a felt ribbon.

Had my covid booster jab today. The guy on reception said, nice hat. I thanked him. He then said, he'd been thinking of starting to wear a hat. I told him, I could definitely recommend it, and he should go vintage.

Who knows? Soon, we may have a new Danish member on the FL :)
