I'll reuse this pic for today, will be sporting this'n all weekend while I spend Christmas in the hospital with my fiance. Her cancer treatments are going well and hopefully will be coming home next week. Although she'll need to continue radiation therapy for the next few weeks. With another round of chemo in a month. Merry Christmas and Happy Hannukah!
God bless and Merry Christmas, oh and **** cancer

I think it might by the ribbon size to crown height ratio, like the hat a lot myself too but feel the same about the cattleman. Will look forward to seeing more, and merry Xmas!
Interesting that you say that, Ross. I got it with a medium crown, rather than the tall crown that their standard Rancher has. I considered getting a thinner ribbon, but they sent me photos of a medium crown hat with this sized ribbon and I decided to stick with the wider ribbon

Christmas almost done and dusted here in Japan. The weather was perfect for barbecuing. I started out in my Akubra Cattleman with a Tokyo Black porter.

a quick shower to rid myself of the smoke aroma and finally got my Christmas present - Hornskov Rancher. Beaver and bunny blend in western weight. The colour is stone with a dusty rose ribbon

I love the hat, but I’m not entirely convinced about the cattleman crease.
The western weight felt is similar in feel to my 100% beaver dress weight Hornskov, but a little stiffer.
Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas.

Gary
Great new hat Gary. Cattleman’s is something I prefer in hat photos as opposed to from my own POV in mirror or selfie. I think it’s probably because I get so used to seeing a tighter pinch on a Fedora that the wider front throws me off when I see it on myself. Really nice looking hat though. Merry Christmas

Hat tip to all as everyone is bringing their A-game this weekend. It's been enjoyable seeing all these great hats, vintage and new customs, from all over the globe.

Another seasonal debut today. Weekly grocery run with the Stetson gibus top hat:

How do you wear a topper? By giving zero Fawkes what others may think, though I did elicit numerous reactions and even a few compliments today.
That's the festive spirit, Jonathan. Looks great. Merry christmas.

Is it showing off, of course it is, but a set of circumstances came together this morning that I just had to share. Our friends have a gastro/pub out in the wilds, north of where we live. We had a fabulous time there last night, so much so that we went back their for our Sunday lunch.

So, show off that I am, we turned up in our vintage MG, with a couple of friends, dressed for the part.

Debbie's hubby is a tad camera shy, so although I have the shot, I won't divulge it.
But you can see me and Jessica. The hat, the suit, do I need to go any further?

Cavanagh with Cavanagh Edge
4 1/4 crown (at highest point as bashed)
1 3/4 black grosgrain ribbon
1 3/4 black sweat band
Original retail price $25

This was my first Cavanagh hat with a Cavanagh edge.... very nice feeling dark black felt on this one but… VERY hard to keep dust off. This one was brushed and tape rollered this morning. This one I was lucky enough to find with my own initials on the sweatband.

Enjoyed wearing it today to watch my Miami Dolphins beat the villainous Jets.

How cool is that?! Merry christmas, Joe.

The wife and I spent about 5 hours in the car today tending to some unfortunate family matters. Had to be done. It wasn’t all depressing though, I got to stop at my favorite farm for raw milk and fresh ground beef. Christmas dinner is gonna be fantastic. Also I carried along with us the quilt I just finished for my daughter to get some pics up on the mountain. Didn’t get many good ones, it was very windy. Had my trusty navy Gannon to keep my head warm. Be well y’all. View attachment 388953
I want that quilt! Merry christmas, Alan.

Thanks, my fiance beat breast cancer 10 years ago. She'd tell people "Cancer can kiss my a**" now she's being treated for anal cancer she says "I ain't ever saying it can kiss my a** again!" :eek:She has maintained a great attitude throughout. We initially came in October for what turned out to be guillain barre syndrome, while the nurses was cleaning her they found what turned out to be the cancer. Very good chance of a full recovery :)

Merry Christmas to one and all on the FL.

Thanks for all your posts during the last year, and for being a light in the covid gloom. Thanks for increasing my hat knowledge and for feeding my HAS.

If, like me, you didn't get a hat from Santa this year, don't despair. I'm sure 2022 will bring us one or two :)

Enjoy the rest of the imageedit_1_5216779705.jpg festive season, folks.

On the Eleventh Day of StingyMas….

Here we are on the Eleventh and final day of StingyMas… which also coincidentally (or not so coincidentally… you decide) coincides with the observance of Festivus.

I decided today to profile two beautiful hats that not only represent StingyMas.. but also in my opinion the Fedora Lounge spirit as a whole. These two hats were gifted to me by lounge friends @Rmccamey and @jlee562

No head shot yet, but I've been wearing my latest conversion. It started out as a blue Stetson Royal Deluxe St. Regis Homburg. I definitely don't wear a Homburg well, so I converted it. I had hoped to reuse the brim binding but after reflanging it to a snap brim the circumference widened and the ribbon was just too small to reuse. For now I'm leaving it raw edge until I find a ribbon for it. Couldn't reuse the original sweat either. But, I was able to reuse the original black ribbon and liner. I also glued the manufacturers label back into the hat. I took it completely apart and converted it. I'll get some head shots later. The open crown is 5 3/4 tall with a 2 5/8 snap brim. The ribbon is 1 5/8 wide.

That's better! Black hats rule!

David this hat has an open crown of 5.5" and a brim of 2.5". It is a Canadian made Holthausen fedora made in the factory located in Brockville.

I headed out on some errands in a pre-40's Brock fedora.

Wish mine was like yours, Joe, Hogwarts style. I'm afraid my wide Brim Mass is more like a flying saucer. I wouldn't like to try it though. I get dizzy spinning around :) View attachment 390407
Whoa, that's some real estate there, Steve. That'll turn a few heads in Denmark!

A fabulous parade, Max. I'd wear the Willoughby, but the Stetson is one impressive hat. Merry christmas.
