Putting Christmas lights up in the snow. The kids helped by making hot chocolate and drinking it all before I came back inside.

Fleur of Penumbra hats, has send me the reblocked Hufvud. I'm very satisfying with it.... :) View attachment 379103 View attachment 379104

Gorgeous hat. I am curious, why did you have it re-blocked sir?

Love that VS in moss. Truly. Long ago it your hat and a couple other members (who have not posted in a long time) who inspired me to commission a dark moss with Art (of VS fame).

Brrrrr, down below 70° F. this morning. Wearing a Clear Nutria Stetson, and a Horsehide Monarch coat, both probably made before I was.

Good for you. The reward sounds appropriate. Two week ago when it was warm (40-50'f) my wife and I put up outside decorations. We did it in the "warmth." Fun to see the lights against the snow.

Cheers, Eric -

Windy day with occasional rain. Leaden colors and I was lucky enough to make some commissions without rain.
Petronius 1.jpg

The hat that accompanied me is one of the most used Borsalinos I have in my collection.
Petronius 3a.jpg

The felt is gorgeous, but the sweatband needs some care.
Petronius 4.jpg

It has a particularity that it has a special "Petronius" finish, perhaps because it was sold in Bologna whose patron saint is Petronius :)
Borsalino Qualità Extra Superiore, the color of the felt is "Vinca" and the ribbon is "Sansa" which is the color of the pressed olives
Petronius 5a.jpg
The felt finish "Petronius" has a "peachy" hand and a particular surface

Thanks a lot for your likes.
Have a nice day

It's a spectacular fall day here in Queens, NY. Unfortunately, I've been stuck inside in Zoom meetings all day so decided to head out for a quick stroll around the neighborhood in my bluegrass Whippet -- inspired by all the great recent posts of bluegrass Camp Drafts. Wonderful to see the fall colors and get in a bit of hat time in the middle of the day!

Cheers,

David

Stetson 7X Clear Beaver Quality
Silverbelly Open Road Style
4 5/8 in diamond crease (about 5 3/4 Open)
3/8 inch grosgrain ribbon
2 3/4 brim with 1/8 bound edge
Wind trolley

Finally the last of the four hat week from a few weeks back. This one took a couple weeks of patience but it has finally arrived. Stetson 7XCB is worth the wait! This is for sure one fine piece of felt. There is quite definitely that “molds like clay” feel to this felt. The hand is incredibly velvety fine. Probably one of the very best of all my Stetsons. Maybe the exception might be my mid 1930s Standard Quality though I believe that one may be a bit thinner felt. I put it through some paces with a few quick dry creases… all of which it took with ease. There are a couple tiny dirty spots here and there but nothing that really stands out. One odd thing it appears the wind trolley cord has been stitched down in place under the ribbon. I’m not sure if this a factory thing kinda like basting stitches or if someone did not know how to wrap it and stow it out of the way. I did find a four digit number on the back side of the sweat similar to a LotXXXX number… however I do not think it is. There ar stars in the logo on the sweat and on the liner.. My guess would be late 40s early 50s… wonder anyone else’s thoughts. Absolutely very happy with this hat. I will probably pull out my other similar Stetsons and do some comparisons soon. Special thanks to @BobHufford for the heads up on this great hat.

Continuing on the black oldies, another favourite from Daniele.
Thibet, wool View attachment 379459
The wool composition is unique and the feel and hand beyond description.
View attachment 379460
The overall details and finish suggest a wool hat intended for the upper class

Wonderful Panos. I remember Daniele's original post with that Thibet. Glad it's ended up with you.
