Guessing late 40s, but could be early 50s Portis. More about this full on renovation on the eBay thread.
My first attempt at a pleated dog eared bow. The felt hiding behind the original blue ribbon shows its true color and everywhere else has faded since new, which is unfortunate since it had a nice super light mauve tint. In person the hue can still be detected, but mostly a beige now.

Man, fantastic work.

I bet you could find an old western and make it up like my nutria. You clearly have the skills. Mine is a melange of the later years John Wayne movie hat and The Fray ribbon treatment by Stetson.

Thanks, Tuck.
Sure miss The Duke! No one will ever come close to his persona and acting ability.
Is that a vintage grosgrain ribbon that Northwest used? Looks old, but very nice!
Your hat and ribbon style is definitely on the list!

Thanks a lot, Perry.
It’s the widest ribbon I’ve ever used at 2 1/4” . Been saving this awesome vintage blue ribbon for the perfect hat. Some true vintage ribbon is so much better and easier to work with than others. Any new “vintage” grosgrain just doesn’t have the same feel and workability.
It’s always a crap shoot when buying the stuff from vintage ribbon sellers.
