I'm still supposed to be in the office here in Hotspot, Missouri. I feel fortunate that a two-day migraine kept me out for a couple of days ... maybe three.

And I was just getting back in the swing of dealing with people.

A bunch of firsts for me: First time eating street tacos in Tennessee. First time I knew more Spanish than the guys working in the taco truck. First time being told “y’all have a blessed day” when picking up our food. :)

Aside from many trips to Virginia to visit her sister, my wife has never been in the South. She doesn’t like the humidity, but the people won her over. She LOVES the people and is making friends across every state we visit.

We love Tennessee. My in-laws had a place in the mountains there for years. Definitely miss it. But I can see where finding a good taco place can be as hard as finding good Italian there. But made up fOr with real southern food.

Donning my Akubra Capricorn while waiting in line for my first jab. Japan has been incredibly slow with vaccinations. My prefecture has the highest percentage of vaccinations in the country, but still only managed to get mine through my wife’s work.

Vaccination done, I now have to wait 15 minutes to ensure I don’t turn into a goat or something before they release me.

Pleased to report no bovid developments, so back home watching the Olympics. I still think these Olympics should have been cancelled, but since they are happening, I might as well enjoy them.
I was particularly happy about New Zealand’s gold in the Men’s eight rowing. I’m not old enough to remember the last time we won the event (1972, when I was three), but every New Zealander knows about it. It’s considered one of our greatest days in Olympic history.

I took the evening off and have been puttering about. Time and the cooler temps had me opening the box that contained a couple of new caps that arrived earlier this week.

New Cordova Straw Cap Day! I would like to introduce my new straw cap. This was originally listed as an upholstery fabric. It appears to have Raffia and Jute thread woven in between to hold it together. This is my fav warm weather cap! Hands down.

The cap has heft. In the hand the cap appears to be durable and will stand to the rigors of my wearing it. It does not lie against the head. Comfy. The "fabric" is breezy (at least from my one evening wearing attests to).

The fabric and the details combine into a gorgeous summer cap. The leather sweat and the custom dimensions of the cap have the fit outstanding. Dang!

This new straw cap is different from the Abaca Straw cap from Cordova. This cap is the needed lightweight cap for special occasions. Super duper airy cap. Pic below:

Cap time today.

20210731_165102.jpg The summer holidays are over, it's back to work on Monday. The weather is quite autumnal in Danmark already. Far too early for wind and rain.
The one silver lining is, it was cool enough to be able to wear this very recent Wegener felt.
Happy holidays to those about to start them and those who are still in the midst of them :)

Looking good, Steve. The two-tone ribbon makes it. Same weather over here.

Daughter is turning 21. We took her and the BF to lunch today. Ecuadorian hats for Sandra and I, mine customized/built by Mike Miller at NW Hats. Zack with a cap. Daughter borrowed Sandra's hat for the pic... the Ben Affleck semi-calado from Homero Ortega in Cuenca.
