Late to post, but here are last weekend’s hats.
A special work day on Saturday. I was involved in a demo lesson for student recruitment. I went for my Panama.

Like the name badge in Japanese! Mr Shoe!

A public holiday here in Japan and my Akubra Cattleman put in a good long shift at the pit.

Etsuko decided the late afternoon shade justified hatlessness. Love them as we might,sometimes they just make no sense!

You always take the best pictures. I notice the "Kia Kaha" at the bottom of your post. I take it that has meaning in Japanese? It is also in the dictionary for the language of Niue Island, Niuean, where I spent a couple years.

Kia is a directional Kia Koe (to you). Kia, kaha! Is slang for "forward, of course... or, for you, of course.... or, go ahead, now!" Stuff like that.

You always take the best pictures. I notice the "Kia Kaha" at the bottom of your post. I take it that has meaning in Japanese? It is also in the dictionary for the language of Niue Island, Niuean, where I spent a couple years.

The similarity you noticed to Niuean is not coincidental. “Kia kaha” is also Polynesian - it’s a Māori phrase commonly used in New Zealand, where I hail from. It means “Stay strong”, which I find particularly apt in these COVID times.
Interestingly, in Māori, “kia” is a particle used to indicate a purpose, will or effect and “koe” is a singular term for “you”. While I can’t (in my extremely quick search) find the phrase “Kia koe” in Māori, the link seems obvious.
As much as I love the Māori culture, I’m embarrassed by my lack of knowledge of it. At the end of last year, I decided to do something about that and I’ve been studying the language ever since. It’s slow going and I may never get the chance to really use it, but it’s fascinating and I’m really enjoying it.

Hello gents, I tend to spend my Lounge time over in Outerwear, but I do have one nice hat that gets worn on occasion. It’s new Stetson Open Road 6x I got back in October.

Dobbs Fifteen

You know it’s going to be a hot, muggy day when the creek looks like this.

A humid evening this past Monday found me wearing a Stetson panama with optimo blocking. This is a prized straw hat. Wonderfully comfortable and gorgeous.

Yesterday evening I took a walkabout waiting for the meat to finish on the grill. I was enjoyed some ice water while wearing an unlined Stetson Playboy

Bah mi Thit Nuóng and Phò Hài Sàn were on my menu.

Up before the sunrise for a dog soirre this morning. This was the coolest temps of the day.

An Equadorian Supernatural milan was my hat choice. This is just a truly special handwoven masterpiece. The sweatband shows wear, but has lots of wear left. Truly a lovely milan.

I headed out to the grocery store in a VS panama.

After yard pick-up, lawn cutting, trimming, shower, beach raking, weeding , shower and washing an auto I cleaned up and changed hats. The Sunbody 3" brim feels comfy on the head. I dunked it into the lake and it cools my head and back.

A couple more chores and a errand to the butcher store should find me needing to prop my feet in the shad.

We went to see an old friend and 3 more of her friends came along. A real nice time with old friends and new. Especially nice after the covid isolation. Heading to 94°F today. Hot enough for straw. Italian Milan for me, and a semi-calado from Cuenca, Ecuador, for Sandra.

Garage sale hunting this morning in my cattleman. Some needed yard work done in my French Pith.
Thank goodness the smoke let up for a few days.
