Well said, Bill. I’m a firm believer in individual rights, and while I might have a contrary opinion, I find it boorish and I’ll-mannered to lecture others on what they should do with their own belongings. I think you can express a passionate opinion and back it up with your reasoning, but I don’t like seeing people getting badgered. I get that this is a passion of ours and we become emotionally involved but grown men should not be lectured or harangued. In the end they are just hats.

Tell that to my wife!
Wives are the universal exception to all rules.

Some passionate members have been giving Max a bad time about his resizing and reblocking vintage hats. Some of the comments went too far.

Very nice Jim. I like the little stars, are those factory or add-ons?Edward Biskup. A very nice thin ribbon with a 5 1/2" OC and 2 5/8" bound brim. Nice, thin, dense felt. I haven't done anything to it beyond a good brushing and modifying the center dent to more of a diamond (or claw foot).

Y'know I have no idea. They could be original.Very nice Jim. I like the little stars, are those factory or add-ons?
Yes, to my mind the stars give it more of a western feel.A Star is born. Sorry, Jim but you're a bad influence. That's a good looking hat that appears to be in great shape. Now I've seen two. Ribbon adornment is fairly common with high end cowboy hats.
Dang! You got stars and I didn'tYes, to my mind the stars give it more of a western feel.
They're not going anywhere, though. They're crimped on pretty good. One reason I think they may be original.

That one looks super Doug.Royal Stetson, another favorite reborn from BSHW.

It looks like an incredible hat, Jim. Their version of a Twenty from the other hat companies.Edward Biskup. A very nice thin ribbon with a 5 1/2" OC and 2 5/8" bound brim. Nice, thin, dense felt. An absolutely wonderful hat, and the crease is epic.
I believe that is the very principle the Lounge was founded on....if one goes back to the origins of these threads and read what many of the posters wrote, what they enjoyed the most was the conservation of these rare pieces and their joy of sharing them with others.
Unfortunately several valuable members no longer post due to the fashion show mentality. Some of those folks are still around and not all comments have been shared publicly.
It's no longer about the preservation of vintage hats; it could be about acquiring anything & probably will be something else in the future. There's a difference in collecting and acquiring.
