Well said, Bill. I’m a firm believer in individual rights, and while I might have a contrary opinion, I find it boorish and I’ll-mannered to lecture others on what they should do with their own belongings. I think you can express a passionate opinion and back it up with your reasoning, but I don’t like seeing people getting badgered. I get that this is a passion of ours and we become emotionally involved but grown men should not be lectured or harangued. In the end they are just hats.

Read every one of them. Found none to be offensive or bullying. Just some comments from members that have a great deal more knowledge where vintage hats are concerned and the difficulty in finding particular hats in particular sizes. Some here are more passionate than others about originality and how collectible these hats may be. Altered, they become just a hat that used to be something else. Sure they're his hats to do with as he wishes but if one goes back to the origins of these threads and read what many of the posters wrote, what they enjoyed the most was the conservation of these rare pieces and their joy of sharing them with others. Some of those folks are still around and not all comments have been shared publicly. There's a difference in collecting and acquiring.

Also, I think it would be Max that determines if comments directed towards him have gone too far.

Edward Biskup. A very nice thin ribbon with a 5 1/2" OC and 2 5/8" bound brim. Nice, thin, dense felt. I haven't done anything to it beyond a good brushing and modifying the center dent to more of a diamond (or claw foot).

A Star is born. Sorry, Jim but you're a bad influence. That's a good looking hat that appears to be in great shape. Now I've seen two. Ribbon adornment is fairly common with high end cowboy hats.

I believe that is the very principle the Lounge was founded on.

Unfortunately several valuable members no longer post due to the fashion show mentality.

There's a difference in collecting and acquiring.

It's no longer about the preservation of vintage hats; it could be about acquiring anything & probably will be something else in the future.
