Love Caxtons!
Forgot to post these earlier. Still mostly wearing the same handful of hats, including personal build #2, the Bob Dylan hat. Nutria/rabbit felt, horse hair band, half curled brim.

With the doggo at Fort Funston, one of the many former coastal defense sites around here. The battery in the background dates to the late 1930's, and the parking lot is actually paved over top of a Nike missile launch site. It happens to very conveniently be the closest off leash dog park to me. Also, the only dog park I know of where you might also spot whales during the right time of year. There also seems to be more hawks around here lately.
Niiice, Jared!

My dream hat on my balcony, enjoying a sunny afternoon. Sometimes, when you idealize something you pine for, it turns out it doesn't meet your expectations. This hat exceeds them. The felt is a dream, and the shape is wonderful. I am in awe of it. Easily one of my best hats.

Dobbs Challenger - Schuss Loden
Velour like finish
4 7/8 crown
5/8 green woven band
1 7/8 raw edge brim
Made in West Germany

A velour like finish on this Dobbs Challenger made in West Germany. The tag indicates the model is Schuss and the color is labeled Loden which is supposed to be a darker olive drab. The felt appears much more brown with greenish undertones tied in with a light green woven band.

Thanks Steve. I'm kind of liking that wide ribbon, short crown combo. Hoping to feel a bit more relaxed in 20 days and a lot more in 50.

Michael

Congrats Michael! We made it.

I got the Pfizer dope on Sunday, and all is well. Except this new twitch...

That porker you’re wearing today is just exquisite!

Thanks Max! Graham sure did a great job on your MacLachlan.

I've been wearing one of my go to vintage hats, the Stetson Junior Cowboy for the past two days. Probably mid to late 40's or later. I found the ad, below which unfortunately did not have a date reference.

I didn't know that 3X quality was more expensive than nutria quality

Thanks, Jeff. I scored the plaid peacoat on eBay this past Fall for $40. I was looking for something for the oncoming cooler temps though not so cold that would warrant a full length winter overcoat. This has fit the bill nicely and almost is too warm. Wool body, sewn in vented faux fur liner, and the sleeves have thick quilted lining. I was extremely surprised by the overall weight when I received it.

Fox Knapp was the company, based out of Pennsylvania:

There is a union tag but I haven't poked around enough to try to date it based on that tag. Can't say I've seen a plaid peacoat like this one before. As you said, usually navy/black/grey. I dig it that it's different. :)

Yes, I am totally digging that coat too! Great eBay score.

Thanks Charlie. It's going to be another couple of weeks before I start relaxing. I've hear the tail doesn't start growing until about a week after the second jab with the Pfizer. Have you tried the new Bill Gates chip yet? Very handy being able to get on the internet without any external devices.

Michael

That is one awesome Stetson!
