That OR is super fly, Joe!
I very recently acquired a 50s unbranded jobber Shudde Brothers OR clone.
Finest quality vintage western hat I’ve ever held.
I’d like to know who built it.
No info inside the sweat.
I’ll post it tomorrow.

My girls and me, keeping our appointment at Untermeyer Park to see the Christmas lights tonight. VS black cherry. Not too cold, not too crowded and not too spectacular. Was nice to get out all together though. View attachment 295851 View attachment 295852
Dang, Alan! That moon and clouds photo is awesome...and looks like scoops of blueberry ice cream with a Black cherry on top!

He’s still about the same size. I may be about 5” shorter Than he is, but I still outweigh him!

And he’s not a fedora wearer... yet.
I’ve read this...somewhere:
“Raise up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he shall not depart from it.”

He will come around, eventually.

If not, steer that Satellite’s orbit into a trajectory path that causes it to safely land at a particular south Georgia swamp!

A Stetson Monza on this very sunny, but cold 25th of December. Part of the Panos collection :) View attachment 294750

Merry Christmas folks!!
Very nice, Steve. Panos is getting to be quite the enabler ;)

Merry Christmas all.

A Marathon for a very chilly morning.

I think I'll find a coat before I venture outside again.

Happy Holidays,
Michael
I never get tired of that one, Michael. Looks like a nice warm suit.

The day actually ended with rescuing a domesticated bunny that was injured in a park. BTW we also foster kittens so the cat angle is covered.

All you now is a donkey; they are usually to be found in traffic:D

Very nice, Greg. Portis is not a brand I usually associate with western style hats.

I apologize for the poor photos. Funkytown is gloomy, though we did get some white stuff for Christmas. They say "the sun'll come out tomorrow, tomorrow," but we shall see.

My new Christmas hat. I saw this at the local vintage shop awhile back, but held off because it was a little pricey and a 7 1/8. But then I thought about it, and went back, but they were closed for several days (turns out the guy running it was self-quarantining out of caution). Then, a Christmas miracle!

Because I had purchased some gift cards earlier this year to support my local businesses, the Downtown Dayton Partnership gave me a complimentary $15 gift card. Not to look askance at such a sign from the hat gods, the store was open when I next went by.

Mid- to late-50s 3X Suede Finish. Very deep dark brown with self-felted ribbon. Very pettable and creases if you look at it sternly.

Thanks, Santa, and Merry Christmas everybody!
So no work for Santa's other gift then (the Jiffy)? Great catch and remarkable that you managed to walk away from it before.

Excellent all the way, Reggie.

No hat today, but I too wanted to wish everyone a merry Christmas.

My daughter was unable to join us for Christmas this year do to Covid, but shared this photo of her first Christmas in 1995:

Very cool pic, Brent. We will all have to make up for it next year.

Thanks for that, I will make contact in the new year. For Christmas day I chose another of Esther's hats to top off my new shirt, courtesy of Santa, via Tina's sewing cabin. She made the baggy trousers too.
It's been strange to spend Christmas with just the two of us, had lots of text messages though and Tina prepared a wonderful Christmas meal. We had lamb ribs, prepared and presented by the butcher, as a guard of honour.

We hope that you have all had a joyful and peaceful Christmas.
You have made the best of it, Robert. Looking great (both you and the meal:)).

One of the best gamebirds out there, Bill.

Some great entries Stefan. That last liner. Wow!
Thanks, Joe. It's one of the liners made by Fleur of Penumbra for me.

Good to see it again, Michael. Mine will have to wait until Italian week is finished.
1950’s Royal Stetson Bantam

1950’s Royal Stetson Bantam
Steel Grey felt
4 5/8 crown as shaped (5 1/4 open)
7/8 mid ribbon
2 1/2 brim with matching grosgrain binding

I got to open this wonderful Christmas present yesterday. And boy am I happy with it. From the photos I had thought the brim might be on the shorter side... I’m pleasantly surprised to find it a nice full 2 1/2 inches. I find the felt and design to be very similar to the Playboy. It seems to want take on a bit of a jaunty Hollywood brim. An excellent hat I think I will enjoy.

Beautiful strat. I like the organic crease on it.

Yes, you found the detail, it's thin...I don't know how say it(my English..), It's very light weight, and I think the creased is sexy if the hat very light weight. Just like them show in the poster : View attachment 295353 View attachment 295354
Yep, that would be the way we like our felts to be.

Black Royal Stetson again today. I think this is my wife’s favorite hat.

View attachment 295470 This mid/late 50s Whippet came to me in the mail on Christmas Eve.
Nice present to myself.
I’ve been looking for one for a Loooong time—that wasn’t over priced. $153 is just right.
I can merely assume the reasons only one other bidder was interested was because the 2 1/2” brim width wasn’t in the description and the camera angle made the brim look narrow.
I was totally shocked when the last seconds ticked down and 10 other bidders didn’t jump in! View attachment 295459
It’s a pedestrian, Un-extraordinary brown Whippet.
Nothing special, but it finally eases a ten year itch that I haven’t been able to scratch. A Christmas miracle!
It’s not mint, but darn close.
Makes me a happy collector. I’ve got a light brown Hanover Square that looks very similar. I’ll be posting a photo of them side by side soon.
Two white whales that I have finally reeled in! View attachment 295468 View attachment 295469
I'm afraid that itch will be replaced by another, Randall. Nice catch though and I'm looking forward to seeing it side by side with the Hanover Square.
Afternoon outside enjoying watching the neighborhood hawks working on their dinner. I was wearing a vtg. Stetson Scoop. The 30's fedora dimensions have been peaking my interests of late.

Cheers, Eric -
Fabulous, Eric. I'm glad the thirties hats have your interest, so we can all enjoy the ones you come up with.

30s The Brock, came to me with plenty of character. Lovely beater hat for today's outing. View attachment 295531 View attachment 295532 View attachment 295533
They can't all be pristine and character is a good thing. Wonderful hat, Wayne.

Oh, the Jiffy's been getting a workout, don't worry. For one thing, this 3X had so much dust on it I had to go at it with tape, a vacuum cleaner, and a brush/steam. And it looks as though it's going to collect dust like crazy.
