A weekend of reflection and remembrance, Kristalnacht 9th November, the 22nd anniversary of my mother's death today, and the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day tomorrow, has led me to wear this Battersby Homburg, which Stefan found in Amsterdam and kindly thought of me as a more than likely future owner. I've been mourning, honouring, and remembering those gone, while also remembering those loved ones and friends who are still here. Sholem to one and all.

I was outside doing chores this morning in a vintage Stetson Fifteen (Mode Edge).

While this hat is crisp and clean it has obviously seen wear over the years between its manufacturer and finding its way to my hat rack. Cleaning of the liner, over the years prior to my seeing the hat, has the colored print removed. However the impression of the print remains. The leather sweat shows wear, not age.

A quality piece of leather and care in stitching it to the felt have the sweat being able to see another many more decades of gentle use.

The hat tells only part of it's story. I like to imagine that the remaining story is colorful and full of adventure.

Thanks Red. Boredom is a powerful motivator, but it wasn't up to the job today. A nap was the winner.

I have a similar coat. Gives me a good impression how well the Marathon goes with it

This is a current production Stetson Premier Stratoliner (Royal DeLuxe). The Premiers are open crown and all I did was do a little shaping with my hands and some steam. A lot of Loungers don’t care for any modern Stetsons, but the Premier/Royal DeLuxe and Excellent grade hats are very nice in my opinion. They are also readily available which is also nice.
