That's a great present Joe and one you'll always think of your mom when wearing it. Sorry for your loss, my friend.

This old Mallory Ten got the call for chef duties this morning

And this Knox Superfine Homburg for dinner festivities. The last birthday gift from my mom before she passed this summer. A little bit of her with me this Thanksgiving. I hope everyone is having a safe and Happy Thanksgiving

Definitely en ensemble to be thankful for, Mike. The hat's a beauty, but that tie! Oh, my. Love it!

I had one job... and still I dressed to the nines for it. A 15 minute trip to deliver Thanksgiving meal items to Patty's aunt & uncles house across town, needed some flair. Wore a new to me 1950s hand painted tie and my custom Navy Longhair fedora. Love the detail on this tie. It is unbranded unfortunately. Charles Tyrwhitt shirt, vintage swank cuff links and tie bar. For comfort, Allen Edmonds Maxfield tassel loafers. Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving (or Thursday for my international friends) today.

Trip to Freddie's for some more Christmas lights, never can have enough... Needed an overcoat this morning, super crisp out. Black 1950s homburg by Robert Heath, made in England. Spent some time with the Jiffy Steamer on the brim, giving it more distinct curves.

A hat for a gentleman, worn by a gentleman. Some things are still right in the world. Good to see you, Mike.

O my, Dave. That is an excellent hat!

The Italian hat producers, manufacturers and exporters of the greatest number of hats in the world trade of this product, found themselves in a decade to pay the economic and social change in the tastes of a generation and, almost all of their glory days ended in unison.
View attachment 283197 I am one of that generation and perhaps that is why I now pay my atonement for that sin by collecting their magnificent hats

Barbisio closed at the beginning of the Eighties and the Cervo hat factory, two hundreds metrs further, took it upon itself to carry on the name.
This is a machine-formed hat that was the child of that difficult time
View attachment 283201 The felt is dark green, rigid due to too much shellac, excellent finishes outside, very hasty inside.
Barbisio size 59 without any other indications. After years of battles with Borsalino for the high quality they left over some unfinished beauty, like this

Good looking hat, Joe. That's good news, since I have one in the waiting room.

I think my wife asking me to go with to Costco two days before Thanksgiving was some sort of test. :)
I passed: I’d follow her anywhere.
You're not hoarding toilet paper again, are you Brent? I don't think my wife's testing ever ends to be honest.;)
That's a fine looking hat, Dave. Really like that ribbon treatment.

It was a green thin ribbon fedora kind of morning.

Late 40s 3X Stetson Tijuana. Learned the name of this hat from @rclark .
Thanks!
Super light malleable felt on this one.
Got it for less than the new asking price. View attachment 283827 View attachment 283826
Looks great, Randall. Some of our hats take a bit of getting used to to wear them and the gay prince type of hat is certainly one of those for me.

I was avoiding the delicious smells filling our house with the Thanksgiving foods being cooked and went for a stroll through the nearby woods. I wore the Gannon Wanderer in silvermist with charcoal trimmings for my walkabout.

Hey everyone!
Bird?

View attachment 283915

Word.
Even in these difficult times there are lots of things to be thankful for. In addition to all the usuals cited around the dinner table every year, I'm adding this late 40's Dobbs Game Bird Guild Edge, and all of you folks who appreciate seeing it posted. :)
Have a happy Turkey Day, and be safe.
Hope you didn't eat that bird! It deserves a pardon more than that turkey!

Dressed for a celebration. Excellent, Mike.

Thanks Joe. That was a fine pair of hats you were celebrating Thanksgiving under. The Knox is certainly imposing.

That one is always a winner, Michael.

I wore a fedora with a big name for a dog soiree this morning. A Stetson Twenty Sovereign with Mode Edge. Ahhh, what's in a name?

Stefan, yet again, some exceptional hats. I'm going to spend the weekend looking at them, their liners, and your great array of coats and scarves once or thrice more. Thanks for sharing.

From last year or so. I'm making some changes to this Melton. When I first converted this hat I had the open crown height at 5 1/4 inches tall with the brim cut to 2 3/4. Though it had a nice profile, I just wasn't completely satisfied with the 5 1/4 open crown height and the lower crease. So, I reblocked it on my RA and got a full 5 3/4 inches on my open crown. For a cheaper quality felt I was surprised at how easily this Melton stretched over the block, and, I still had plenty of brim to get 2 3/4 inches if I want to go that wide again, which I'll probably go with my preferred 2 5/8 on the brim width instead. For a cheapie it's been pretty easy to work with so far. I'll have more on this hat later when I finish it....

On the block:
