What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Yesterday I purchased a small collection of hats from an engineer now tired of wearing brimmed hats, his current orientation is caps. So I traveled two hundred kilometers and from a delightful person I brought home nine hats, some of them very interesting. The first one I had viewed to ascertain the state of use is the one that accompanies me on my daily walk around my office.

Panizza Royal, made in the seventies in Ghiffa, the historic headquarters of Panizza.

The color of the beautiful felt is "Cloro" the brims are finished with a double stitch, ribbon is black and it has first-rate finish.

Most of the hats were bought as shop stock and some are very interesting, others much less. Meanwhile, let's enjoy this historical Panizza

The Akubra Balmoral hemp is kind of the little brother of the Range and is a great, sturdy, all around straw. 7 ft. waves today up in Hanalei, the beach was almost empty. Unfortunately yesterday I had to bury my mother in law. After services, while the party was inside her house, I manned my post on the patio where I always cook for everyone. My daughter snuck up and snapped me reflecting. Figured I’d post it, and another shot I took to better showcase the ribbon on my hat. Wearing my whiskey VS, and one of my vintage ties. It started cool and rainy this morning, so I chose what I call "my Borsalino helmet," which has a stiff not too impressive felt, the Borsalino Rain Proof Line. The afternoon turned out glorious.

I very much appreciate the condolences and kind words, what a great group of considerate folks in here. As for my mother in law, she was a tough old broad (she loved when I called her that), and we should all be so lucky and go the way she did. She was 90 and still living in her own house (with lots of help from us in recent years, but still home), she never got dementia, never had cancer and really wasn’t in pain. She had a seizure one day and passed in less than 24 hours. I told my wife mom didn’t want to be a burden, she made up her mind and that was that, she could never be swayed lol. Anyway, I thank you all very much for thinking of us.

Great way to live and leave life Reminds me of my grandfather. At 92 He went up to visit my parents In St Augustine and brought his golf clubs with him as he fully intended to play while he was there. He Spent a couple days in the hospital. But was up and watching Football yelling at the screen a few hours before he Passed.

Bless her and the great memories you all will have of her.

Akubra Range hemp at my local beach today. No wind, very little waves, and plenty of sun called for this nice and wide brim straw hat. Lots of families out today with all the kids on boogie boards. I would have thought it was a normal weekend day, if not for passing the food bank in the parking lot of the Catholic Church on the way to the beach, with a huge line of hungry people waiting patiently.
I count my blessings.

It's a bit unfair: that scenery makes every hat look better!

Good morning folks. Early morning found my neighborhood covered in frost.

A Gannon Playboy (blue smoke beaver felt) and I went for a dog soiree.

Shopping errands found me switching to a Gannon Wanderer (silvermist felt and charcoal trimmings) before heading out.

I relocated a bunch of fallen leaves in a Filson Mackinaw wool cap.

Yet another head gear change for eating brunch outside (Best Dressed Head cap).

Your Wegener Fez creation is one of my staple indoor hats during the winter.

Thank goodness I'm not the only one doing that. You can always wear a fez of course, Steve: perfectly socially acceptable headwear indoors.
