Wearing my Resistol thin ribbon conversion again today. I did a reflange on the brim since I last posted this hat. I first flanged it on a custom made #19 flange. I didn't like that flanging on this particular hat. When I first ordered the #19 I was told that it was for a 2 5/8 brim width and that it was the same as a Strat brim flange. The flange was actually for a 2 3/4 and it looked nothing, to me, like a Strat flange. So, I reflanged it on a vintage 2 3/4 #810 flange and it looks closer to what I'm after. The brim width on this hat is 2 5/8 but the deeper flanging of the #810 works better for me.

Great job, per usual, Terry. Looks almost too good! Is that possible?
Heck naw!
My RA composite brim flange should arrive tomorrow or Tuesday. It’s 2 3/4, but I have no idea how deep it’ll be.
I’m sure I’ll be sending you PMs on how to use the thing.
I’m guessing you wet the brim with water, or hat stiffener, then iron it while it lays on the flange?

Fantastic collection, one helluva harvest.
Thanks, Ian. Very kind.

What a parade this week Stefan. I really like the colors on the Brent.
Thank you, Joe. It's time I put the blue ones side by side to compare them.

Good day folks. I was out for a dog soirree this morning in a Champ Lightweight. Great hat for the circumstances (cooler and very humid).

Essential grocery shopping in a Tropicool panama. How is it every trip to the grocery store is well over $150.00? No butcher, fromagerie and local brewery stops. Dang, I did not even get fancy-dancy groceries.

Cheers this morning from Minnesota. Be safe, be strong and see you on the streets soon, Eric -
Great colour on the Champ, Eric. It's about time I give it some head-time again as well.

New-to-me Knox Superfine Homburg in Charcoal. A little short on the brim for my usual taste, but I like the "English Banker" look it has. Plus, it's such a fine hat. Flawless construction.

Suits you well, Jim. Knox did make excellent homburgs.

That's a nice one, Brent. My ocd would have me iron the brim, but that's me.

Those are all killer! I’m dying’ here! Especially the blue one you got from Bob...and the dove gray Wormser, and the Borsa...and...hard to breathe...not...gonna...make.....it.
Thanks, Randall. Hope you're ok. Glad I didn't pull out the big guns:D

That is one fine collection!
Thank you, Terry.
Just got back from grocery shopping today, and got ripped off for $150, as well! Fanciest thing on my list? Nabisco mixed fruit Newton’s. Most expensive? A big bag of frozen fried chicken breast.

Don't know about flange numbers and what they mean, Terry, but that flange looks just about perfect to my eyes.

Don't remember my grocery bill total since I stopped at three stores, but I came in under $150. I was under this unbranded Panama boater:

More pics and details in the Panama Hat Thread (or Boater Faction).
You pull it off with ease, Jonathan. Nice weave on it.

Spectacular!

Still need to add a Borsalino Castoro to the collection. Elusive species!

Dobbs Hanover Square
Grey/Silver/Green
5 inch open crown (4 1/2 as shaped)
2 inch silver grosgrain ribbon
2 1/2 brim with 3/8 Matching grosgrain binding

I stumbled upon this beauty... Dobbs Hanover Square. I have seen the some here who have this model enjoy them greatly. The Hanover Square clearly seems to have been Dobbs stab at Stetson’s ever popular Whippet of the 1950s. Man did Dobbs do a great job. If I am to compare the two.. the Hanover Square is a bit lighter softer felt as opposed to Stetsons stiffer.. but still very high quality felt. So probably a matter of preference there. I tend to prefer the softer felt on the Dobbs here... but I still appreciate the quality on the Stetson.

I had thought the felt was a light silver grey with a silver ribbon. But in stepping outside I also saw green tones to both. As is the case with a lot of these old felts the colors can shift in different lights.

This one originally sold for $11.95 at Popular Dry Goods Co. I’m thinking based on the manufacturing tag I would place this one in early to mid 1960s. Though curious to opinions.
