I was up very early to take advantage of the cool morning. I wore a Stetson Whippet for my escapades.

I was out sipping some cold press coffee grilling shrimp for a shrimp taco breakfast while wearing a vintage JC Penny straw hat.

A vintage fabric cap went on a dog soirree and for a walkabout.

Cheers. Be safe, be strong and see you on the street soon, Eric -

Another Croydon Hat day... Made a trip out to the beach to check out the renovations at our favorite local beach hotel the Beachcomber. They Very nicely updated the lobby and pool areas. Unusually flat ocean today. We Look forward to visiting for a staycation when things get back to normal... unfortunately that is still not now down here in south FL. Picked up a KOMBINATIONEN PLATTE appetizer from our fav German place on the way home. Pumped up some German tunes while we ate in the car Forgot how good that was!

Thanks Joe. That Croyden you had on the other day was very interesting. Nicely dimensioned and looked well made.

Thanks Joe. It worked in the woods. It was a good toadstool day, found about 3/4 lb of chanterelles.

Thanks,
Michael
Sounds like a good haul Michael.

@DaveProc did a little detective work and found a little bit of interesting info...

A salesman ad for the manufacturer of Croydon hats - GNY Hat Co located at 750 Broadway NYC. Who else was located at 750 Broadway? Stetson.

Thanks Stefan. The binding is what attracted me to it. Well, I guess I thought the cream on white ribbon/straw combo was kind of cool too.

Very nice. How did the panama hold up to the drizzle?

Thanks. it isn't bad for a hat that probably listed under $30 in the last couple of years.

Thanks all
Michael
Thank you, Michael. The panama wasn't in the drizzle (it was a leftover shot from the week before). The rain was so dreary I didn't even get my phone out.

Croydon - Supreme Quality

Croydon - Supreme Quality - Medium Reddish Tan Felt
4 3/4 crown
1 1/2 Tan and Brown duo tone grosgrain ribbon treatment
2 1/2 brim with 3/8 grosgrain bound edge
1 7/8 soft brown sweatband

Croydon.. Another unknown (to me) Hat brand... but what a cool looking hat this is. Built in a sort of Whippet clone styling with the 2 1/2 brim 3/8 bound Edge. The real star of this hat is it’s Almost Musketeer like two-tone ribbon treatment. The felt is a beautiful medium tan that leans to reddish tones. There are just a couple moth nibs toward the top of the crown that do not go through and the up side of the brim shows a tiny bit of brushing marks... some of which I was able to work out. Inside there are the remnants of what looks like a yellowed cellophane liner tip. Might be some kind of hint on age. Other than this hat is almost perfect shape.. the sweat is nice and soft. I also what appears to be it’s factory bash in a beautiful tear drop shape.

I could not find really any info on Croydon As either a hat manufacturer or brand. I’m thinking though this could be a house brand. I’m getting a bit of a Lee Hats vibe off this one. Maybe others would have more thoughts on that.

It's a really cool hat, Joe. Most likely American made though.

Classic. Can't fault that, Perry.

Finally a bit cooler this morning. Wormser 10 Star makes the coffee cut

Have a great Friday,

I like that one better and better every time I see it (no competition for the Idorsca though).
John the Hatter fedora today. This little-known brand hat produced one View attachment 246498 View attachment 246499 View attachment 246500 View attachment 246501 of my very best hats. Glorious felt
Great looking hat, Max. Any idea who might have made it? Or were they the manufacturer?

It has a few battle scars, but that only adds interest. Very cool, Brent. And how often are you going to get that lucky?

Mayser "Spezial" possibly mid 1950s.

Mayser sure put out some awesome quality and good looking hats in the fifties. Very nice, Steve.
