What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Biltmore hemp from last season is getting a little floppy and stained. Tried to dress it up a bit with a satin pug and a Naked & Famous Denim Japanese chambray cotton face mask for the daily Masked Corona Crawl. I'm pretty sure I don't look like I'm from around here, and someone wanted to remind me of that at the beach today. Lovely walk, and swim none the less.
Concern over a mild chronic cough led to a Covid-19 test today, results in a week or so. I feel fine.

Wow! I continue to envy your thrift store finds. Not my style, but the weave is so interesting, I would wear this one with pride! What decade is it from? Modern?

Spent a good part of my day in the garden, populating with life. Still a bit more to go. The Akubra for the work, but no pic. Wore the silverbelly VS Artlite, and my filthy gardening clothes, for a walk before cooking dinner. Had my girls in tow. Beautiful day, I hope all is well. One of my dream hats for sure. Love the colorway on this one Bill.

This week I will feature various shades of Grey German and Austrian Velours. Most will be from the 1930s.

Stefan Esders Velour, Crown Open 6 inches, Brim 2 3/4 inches possibly late 1930s early 1940s maybe just post WWII. Stefan Esders was one of the Big 3 department stores in Vienna. There is no company mark on the paper label but most likely made by one of the Vienna hat companies. The medium weight Close Cropped Gray Velour has a fantastic finish and very soft hand. A great looking Form with a wide Brim and tall Crown. I found this hat back in March of 2017.

Thanks Red. It's out on the edge of my style window, too. But it may prove useful as a well ventilated summer hat. If I remember Joao's info correctly, and where has he been? The Stagecoach line was manufactured from 1979 to 1982.

I love that hat Michael. The more Marathons I see, the more I like them. They really have style. That must have been their selling point, because they always seem to have some style variation that other hat companies used a lot less often.

When I was a young man beginning my professional life, J.C. Penney was a lifeline. Their men's clothes were stylish, affordable, and offered a good quality for the dollars spent. I wore their shirts, undershirts, slacks, and purchased several suits in my 20s-30s. We had a local guy who worked in the Men's department of one of the mall locations, and he was my guy. Always helped me with fitting, alterations - exceptional service.

I have a feeling if they had offered them then, I would have been a Marathon Man.
