My new refurb 40s/50s Strat. It was a wreck. You can see that someone removed the original thin ribbon in this eBay photo.

I sewed vintage 3/8 grosgrain and bow on today.

Meanwhile, I guess I'll try to relearn how to convert the file format, size, and thumbnail/image uploading process on this site in order to share a few photos of my recent headgear. It seems really cumbersome, but I seem to have a good bit of time on my hands now that pretty much all my work has been canceled. Included here are my Clearwater Hats derby with a standard horsehair band, my Buckaroo Sahara crossover hat, my Greeley Hat Works western homburg in granite, and my Texas Hatters Silver Belly Derby. The leather band arrived today. I ordered it 5-6 months ago from an Etsy guy, and asked him to replicate the pattern on my favorite belt, and I think he did an excellent job. It is not perfectly symmetrical, but I do love the hand made aesthetic.

I miss the ease of the app.

Today....not my usual fare, the homburg not the jacket, but this hat has several interesting appointments.
First it’s a Resistol with the triangle “O”, it’s a homburg and it has the most intricate embroidered liner tip i’ve ever seen. The micro stitching amazes me at the detail level for such an old hat. Quite a feat i would think for that time.

As suggested here I did not trim the brim but I did Curl it and give it a little swing, plus, i found positive ID. From a 1936 Visalia catalog, matches price and store. It’s a San All Special View attachment 220533 View attachment 220534

And with this, I’ve now posted all of my autumn/winter hats except for one cheesecutter. If you don’t know what a cheesecutter is, google it and you’ll discover where I hail from!

This is all that’s there on the inside for now. I’m getting ready to sew the original sweat back in tonight. I have to use a liner from an old Stetson that had, cause this hat came sans original liner.

Beautiful day wearing this new arrival Mallory Ten with pork pie crease.

This hat is one of a two hat haul that arrived last week. Both hats were very small at 6 3/4 but being that the seller made me a great deal for both and the story of her great grandfather a WWII chief of police in Poland.. holocaust survivor and hero... to whom they belonged.. I decided to give them a go. By some miracle both of these hats fit wonderfully.

Sport'n a cap this afternoon/early evening. I selected this cap to wear as it was constructed out of a superb wool material. Check the brim concentric stitching work out! Excellent details and workmanship in this Cordova cap.

Loving some hat time with this evening in a Lee Cameo. Camel with green trimmings. Lovely color hues and well done for a hat of more moderate original price. Excellent minty condition. This hat really deserves more head time.

I don’t recall seeing a porkpie with that much brim.

I love the wide brim binding; very hat all-around.
