Pleats in the Hatband

The jacket's new so I was wearing it frequently. It's also light weight so it works for warmer days than most of my other jackets. It's a Pointer Brand hickory stripe chore coat. I got used to the extra pockets on my vest over the winter and I'm having trouble getting used to not having so many now that summer is here.

Thanks ManofKent & T Jones.

For today Wide Ribbon SB Campdraft

Nice lid Case Chopper ,I love the creme color of that hat !

I was wondering if you could explain something for me .
On your hat in question , where the "bowtie" part of the hatband is, do you or does anyone else here on the Forum know
why instead of the "bowtie" effect of the hatband they instead have all those pleats of hatband material where the
"bowtie" would be, do you know why they do that or how that got started, doing that with the pleats?

All the Best ,Fashion Frank

Hi Fashion Frank. I think HatsRme has the answer. It's just a different style of ribbon treatment. Without any study or real direct knowledge and based mainly on what I've seen here at the lounge, my impression is that the sharksgill style ribbon treatments were most common on Adam hats from the 30's-50's with some other hatters using the treatment as well.

It been a while since I posted some pics on the lounge. Going through some personal stuff lately. I was able to get out this weekend with my friend Cristen and take a couple pics at an outdoor bar with live music. I'm wearing my 50's Resistol Open Road Clone.

Beautiful Clear Nutria, Alan!! Besides bright white, that light gray is my absolutely favorite color for a felt hat. :eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap

Still cool, but the wind has dropped.

Christy's 'Jones' Fedora. The more I look at American hats the more I realise how tapered and short crowned our hats are - and looking at old photos I don't think it's just a modern vs vintage thing - even older UK hats do seem to have more taper.
