Just to make the point of how easy it is to change the creases and bashes on the Borsalino. playing with it didn't affect it one bit. I don't think this is a very high end hat either.

out of sync...

Actually, the day before yesterday - Resistol San Antonio. I took it with me on a trip to Chicago over the weekend ( piped in the Southside Irish Parade ). It was ridiculously cold, especially for a Texan.

Kiltie, I really like that hat! You've got the shape perfect! Looks like there's some kicka$$ reverse taper going on there.

Dinerman, Love the Knox Fifteen. Is the top pic in Washington ,D.C. or somewhere else? Also, I couldn't help notice the suitcase above your head on the train (?). I have several pieces that look like that. It's Samsonite; my parents bought a set circa 1956. :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

It's the state capitol building in Lincoln Nebraska. The bus is an old basketball tourbus which is in the museum of Boystown in Omaha, Nebraska.

Thanks...

Thanks all, for the compliments.

GI Joe - I couldn't tell you exactly HOW "vintage" my S.A. is ( such an absurdly subjective word ), but the closest I've seen, in terms of felt texture, sweatband, wind trolley, etc... was a mid sixties Stetson Open Road, so I'd place it around that time ( but that's a real amateur estimate ). I do know that, try as I may, I haven't found an OR or knock-off ( Bailey, et al...) that has been comparable. They're all stiff as an anchorman's hair, with even less character. There's another thread under "HATS" that has a lot of people singing the praises of the Akubra Campdraft ( which, if I remember the advert correctly, even has a wind string ). It's, for all intents and purposes, an Open Road: Akubra even had licence to produce the OR, once upon a time. It seems to be the only "modern" option when it comes to this style, unless you go cu$tom.

Dinerman, Once again, WOW!!!
I think I've figured it out. You have evidently discovered the door to a parallel universe where there are more hats than people. Everything is also neatly catalogued, so that you can retrieve any specimen, at will. :D :eusa_clap

Adam, Majestic Quality. An "Open Road clone. It came with a factory "C" crease. I took it apart, stretched it from 6 7/8 to 7 1/8, put it back together, and went with a diamond crease.
