Today for Saturday recharge it’s Bangkor straw “waterproofed”. To bad it wasn’t sweatband proofed! Nice weave pattern me thinks. Still a dandy grass hat.

Actually it's an adult. This lake is so full of eastern brook trout, with limited feeding season, that they are stunted. You just cant keep these little guys off your fly!

Some of my favorite spots are streams where a “trophy” adult trout is maybe twice that size. Lots of great memories with four generations of family all fishing. I’ve caught 20 pound stealhead and 60 pound salmon but those childhood trout fishing memories are the best.

Just back from San Antonio. Picked up a couple new friends. A Stetson Milan Whitehall and a bottle of JD Tennessee Fire....relaxing now on the back porch. Also, Stopped at Paris Hatters, nice place but left empty handed. Walked over to Penners (favorite new place) and found a great deal on this Stetson Milan as well as a new shirt.

I couldn't agree more! I have fished amazing trout water, including the San Juan, in New Mexico. This is where you catch huge trout on a #24 fly. But the Eastern Sierras, where you catch small fish on a #18 are my best memories. Spending time with family in the back country is my idea of heaven.

My Son and wife (pregnant with my eldest daughter) in Acapulco 22 years ago. There were so many sailfish that day that I felt sorry for them and quit after catching five. That was also the day I took a picture of the most beautiful sunrise I've ever seen.

Synthetic fibers have their place in my summer hat rotation. As long as they are well-vented they can be cool wearing. They also shrug off rain. I also think that some of them look nice(ish). This particular hat looks quite nice to me.

I hear you, this milan fits and feels great on my head. It does not feel the same as my other straws, despite what Stetson says, I have to wonder how "Natural" it really is.
