Your photos are really great, meant to say that when I saw your pics of hats and whisky bottles. I am, fairly obviously, a poor photographer. I was gonna respond with some of my hats with whisky, but my efforts paled in comparison so I let well enough alone . . . .

That’s a real eye catcher. What’s it made of? Is it straw or a synthetic?

That one is shantung straw. It is still available for purchase at Hats in the Belfry:
https://www.hatsinthebelfry.com/product/belfry-hartley.html

It is the "Biltmore Handmade for Belfry "Hartley" Shantung Fedora hat"
Currently marked down from $99 to $73.

The remaining sizes are Large, X Large and XX Large. Mine is a large, and it proved to be more of a 7 3/8 ~ 7 1/2 large than a 7 1/4 ~ 7 3/8 large. I put a strip of reducing tape in front and back and fits pretty good, though the usual slight roominess on the sides as it is not a long oval shape (is anything anymore?).

Alaska cruises are fantastic; I bet you will have a great time! You will definitely want some warm hats and layers of warm clothes, as the days are LONG right now that far North and you will want to spend lots of time on deck watching the scenery slip by.
I can take felt!! The weather looks like it will be in the 60s with little rain in the forcast. We went on this cruise back in 2006, before my hat addiction. I think I wore baseball caps...shudder!

The colors on that are just outstanding.
That is beautiful! The felt looks so nice. Great hat shirt and jacket combination.

Thanks for all the great comments about the Mallory. It is one of my favorites, mostly because of the gills.

Store labeled leghorn stingy. No idea of vintage

Leghorn? Is that a kind of Milan? Cool hat, like the lines.

Love that XV, Mike. Late get well to your wife. We did the Inside Passage back in 2001 and had a great time. You should truly enjoy yourself.
Overcast and rainy today. Decided to be predictable in the BGGGCD.

Thanks Jim, we went up in 2006. This time I have to worry about what hats to bring. The wife is really thankful to all of my fellow lounge members on their good wishes. She is kind of impressed with our little group of hat crazies right now. Nice Aussie today!

Hey Red: Thanks.
Tis a cool old hat. A better choice might be the Camo-liner, Rest in Stealth, so to speak. Ha
Hope Mrs. Red hasn’t worn out the cast getting your attention!!
Give her a hug from me.
Be well. Bowen
Ps: my first successful “Quote Insert”. Guess i can thank people individually now. I know, it’s bout time.
B
Hugs all around! She goes in for her ortho appointment tomorrow morning. Hopefully she will get some relief, she has been kind of helpless.

Well hello! That is just about the perfect hat. I like everything about it and it looks to be in new condition. Thanks, Mike.
Thanks Brent, it is in really good shape...except for a moth divot (through and through) right in the middle of the crown. One of these days I'm going to attempt a fix, but for now, it wears it's battle scar with honor.

I like it! Great use of light. Makes that OR look so film noir.

Summer felt with a stingy Dobbs VVL. Felt has a great feel on this one. Enjoy.

That VVL stands for Very Very Luscious!

An overindulgent hat day. Beaver Brand American legend series, just to go to the grocery store, and this pecan Knox with 2 1/8 felted brim for birthday shopping for my son. This is one of the few stingies I don’t mind wearing and I can’t exactly place why. Brim down and up.

You've got some Elvis Costello goin' on there, especially with the hat, and that's a compliment.

The Beaver Brand is really sharp, looks almost like a derby with a Montana crease. You wear the stingy well too.

Mike, Leghorn is straw from the region around Livorno. Apparently Livorno was called Leghorn by english speakers in the past. It does feel like straw rather than a synthetic.
