Thanks Red. It's rating pretty high on my list too. Loved the duplex you were wearing today. That one is going to get a lot of use this summer.

I like the color on that Whippet. It goes great with that rich green jacket. You are all set!

Thanks Red. The color is a good complement to the Hanover Square, which I think has the same dimensions as the Whippet. I think I have a similarly sized and bound Marathon in grey too. The jacket is a recent find. Land's End Charter Collection from the mid 80s. Alpaca and wool Austrian Loden cloth. Should be great for these cooler spring days.

Today is going to be a long one. Our Annie Retreat. Probably 12 hours for me. Building more set pieces, a first look at costumes and finally a full run of the show. For production photos I selected an old 1823 dated Mallory Derby. Annie is set during the depression (1933), so this everyman hat will look good in the lobby shot of my old face. Wearing the SLS beater around stage while working though.

Not a hat but a useful accessory.

I found this antique walnut hall tree at an estate sale yesterday. I originally passed it by, but my decision kept gnawing at me all last night. It has some condition issues, but what bugged me was the spacing of the pegs. As you can see, they are perfect for wide brimmed hats.

Because all of the condition problems can be repaired, I got up early this morning and drove back to the sale with the hope that it was still there. It was and better still, all remaining items were marked down 25%.

It has a nice box with a lid in the center. It’s a perfect size for keys, sunglasses and sundries.

I’m going to replace the broken mirror in the center section and find a nice ceramic art tile to replace the green and white holly tile that you see. There are two half moon shaped tin drip cups, one on either side for umbrellas that need new bottoms, but other than a little bit of glue and a couple screws, I think it looks good.

The best part is the spacing of the pegs. They’re perfect for my every day hats. My other hall tree is a single post with hooks positioned near the top. It’s a nose tree but the hooks were too closely spaced together. It got very crowded and cause my brims to curl back to accommodate one another. This tree solves that problem and protects my brims. The old tree will be redeployed to coat duty.

I’m very happy. I think it’s a keeper.

It’s been a challenging week here at CDL school learning how to reverse park the trailer, I need to feel like myself this weekend. The Stetson 3X Last Drop is just the friend that’s needed...

Today it’s a Borsalino Marque Grand Luxe 5x in Palladin, 21/4” raw brim, 1” ribbon. Very nice obedient felt. All in all, not a flashy hat but rather subdued. A pretty nice hat.

Because all of the condition problems can be repaired, I got up early this morning and drove back to the sale with the hope that it was still there. It was and better still, all remaining items were marked down 25%.

It has a nice box with a lid in the center. It’s a perfect size for keys, sunglasses and sundries.

I’m going to replace the broken mirror in the center section and find a nice ceramic art tile to replace the green and white holly tile that you see. There are two half moon shaped tin drip cups, one on either side for umbrellas that need new bottoms, but other than a little bit of glue and a couple screws, I think it looks good.

The best part is the spacing of the pegs. They’re perfect for my every day hats. My other hall tree is a single post with hooks positioned near the top. It’s a nose tree but the hooks were too closely spaced together. It got very crowded and cause my brims to curl back to accommodate one another. This tree solves that problem and protects my brims. The old tree will be redeployed to coat duty.

I’m very happy. I think it’s a keeper.

Love those things, but stil I've never pulled the trigger on one.

That's something I have always admired. Sounds like it will be very cool once you get it fixed up.
