Good to see you, Dave. Your doppelganger has been filling the void.
Now you've got me curious.

Unless, of course, former press secretary Robert Gibbs has joined the forum.

Thanks, Es! Yup, my own version of an anniversary was last night. Every year, I mark it at midnight, February 13, because that was when I slide that rock onto her finger to get the ball rolling back in 1979. Following a 180 mile late night drive through a blizzard in a borrowed yellow Chevrolet Chevette, (don't EVER tell Harv I drove that, please) I arrived at her doorstep just before 12. Thank G-d she let me in! We married in September of that year. She's starting to get used to me!
Greetings Hats:
Kewl...just plain kewl!!!
Be well. Bowen

Great looking Whippet Michael. What era is this one from? I have a clone coming for Stefan today and it is about this color.
Thanks Red. I think it is from the earlier half of the 1950s.

Looks good, Michael. Excellent combination as usual.
Thanks steur. It was a good combo for the day, though I did actually start overheating a bit while I was out in the afternoon. That was a change from the usual conditions lately.

Another crisp morning and another heather felt. T&W Lees heather in grey.

You seem to have a great collection of heathered hats. Love them.

Out for some errands this afternoon in the Portis "New Slant". Nice, light weight felt and a cool manly man liner motif. I need to keep this one in the rotation more often.

Sounds like a Rodney Dangerfield or Henny Youngman line!

TOO funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I loved Henny Youngman! He was the king of one liners.
Both were great, actually! I still look up YouTube videos of their stuff. But, it wasn't their line, though. It's my own modified version of a Statlers Brothers line I heard on television when I was a kid

Statler Bros... another classic sound.

When I first moved to the this area in the mid 1970s Henny was onstage near where I lived. They about wheeled him out, he seemed of such advanced age at the time, and even though I had heard solidly MOST of the lines, I was in stitches from start to finish. He was on for a little under an hour. I think he held the record of over 600 one-liners in under 60 seconds. Maybe. Better not Snopes me on that...

First day back at the office after an amazing paternity leave. Thanks to everyone for the thoughts and prayers -- my baby girl Rafaella was born on 1/31 - healthy and strong!

Hey all!
This Rockel Homburg has benefitted greatly from a few days in a box with crumpled newspapers. No more smoke smell!

Still figuring out a work-around for the tablet issue, but still able to post (barely... )
Have a great day!

Newspapers huh? I have heard about a dryer sheet in the box, but I guess the fibers in the paper will suck up the odors. Cool. Still a cool hat, stench or not.

Thank you for your notes. I am very fortunate to have had my Dad for many long and healthy years.

Greetings Alan:
Now i know how much more special that hat is to you. Priceless. May i ask if he painted all the portraits behind you?
Be well. Bowen

Yes, Bowen... they are his works. In later years he embarked on a project to paint himself at different stages of life into homages to his favorite painters - from top to bottom, Warhol, Rembrandt and El Greco.

Thanks Mike!
I read about the newspaper trick here somewhere. Decided to give it a try. Glad I did! Dunno how it works exactly, but it doesn't smell smoky even under steam.

I wore this 50s era Open Road today

... guitar is not my native this tongue... I’m a drummer to the bone and by trade... but I’ve always been enamored with the style of guys like Mississippi John Hurt and Skip James ... so
