My reblocked and reworked Turkey Creek Stagecoach. Dark and cold out this morning when I got up...

And, a few oldies...

The original version of "White Lightning" by the Big Bopper, who also wrote it.

That is a beautiful stagecoach. The crease is excellent, It reminds me of John Wayne's hat in "Three Godfathers". The photo of the hat on the radio is really cool!

Thank you D dog! Three Godfathers was on last night. It's a darn good movie. John Wayne also wore one like that in "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance". Another great Western from John Ford.

The fine felts you ALL have been bringing are a joy!!
Today began with our first accumulation of WONDERFUL (@1mach1) snow on the ground; a beautiful few inches to brighten up the world around here!

Perfectly protected by my dress weight "whiskey" VS...and a Bob Marley T.

I couldn't resist popping up this (still) TIMELY article, serendipitously on the front page of Friday's Wall Street Journal. I'm a slow reader, so posted here today, though. All we need to know about just HOW FORTUNATE we are around the Lounge is in the headline...

Here’s the most confusing bit of the ad, Mayser:

“Dauerhaftigkeit traegt vorstehende fabrikmarke in golddruck auf dem Schweissleder.”

To me this is just grammatical nonsense, but I’m a non-native speaker. This literally translates as either, “Durability carries protruding factory brand in gold print on the sweatband” or “Protruding factory brand carries durability in gold print on the sweatband.” I get what they’re saying but it seems a weird way to say it.
My friend (Herbert Jennissen) who owns Hut Neubarth in Augsburg and is a certified (Vienna) master hat maker sent me this.

"The Rehfus advertise should read:

The lightest and most elegant stiff gentleman's hat
of an unsurpassed durability shows the trademark above in golden print on the sweatband.
Wonderful ventilation ..."

I think this is close to the translation on my site.

Trying to perform a literal translation might be the issue.

While heavy sleet was falling (and still is falling) I tried on several hats to go with the greatcoat, which proved two things to me. First: it's hard to match a colour precisely. Second: I need more grey hats! None of my hats matched the coat exactly but a few of them came close. The coat leans towards the blue end of the spectrum (looks a bit green on my screen). Borsalino Selenio I wore today was a nice match (a bit darker).
As for the coat: here's a full view of it. No labels whatsoever inside it, but I remember the saleswoman saying it was eastern European (either Russian or Polish production). It was a quick picture and I need to practice my military posture:)
