It depends on where you live. Off the top of my head I can think of two here in my hometown of Whittier (California), and there are a number of them in the Hollywood area. The trouble is that they're now called "vintage clothes" and sell for far more than they used to at the "thrift/used clothing" stores.

Your right about that Zombie. That's what I meant, they call it "vintage" rather than "used". I bought that tuxedo for $35. It was in perfect shape. Wore it all the time. Unfortunately, I outgrew it. And not height wise, either. I also miss what was called "junk shops". They rarely have anything like it. Some "antique stores" appear to be junk shops but they never are like the ones I use to frequent that had rows and rows of everything from sewing machines to waffle irons to sad irons to just plain junk. Used to find great things there for $5 and $10. Alas.

Today is another ancient French hat on stroll to my office
takh2o.jpg

It is a JB made of wool, or mixed felt, before World War II

It comes from that landmark located in Strasbourg and precisely in the Chapellerie Meer

I have a particular preference for this hat even if some signs of the time are on it

Good morning loungers. Gray Friday is not black, but almost, until the late morning
2ns26is.jpg

Flechet De Luxe with pleated bow
198g3a.jpg

The felt is very soft and thin, the ribbon is matching the itscolor, as well as the one that trimmed the brims

The hat is probably made in the 1950s or maybe a little earlier

Thanks for your likes on JB that belongs to the heyday of the hatters world

Keep warm under that Habig Karl. Nice "organic" crease, looks so comfy.

Hatpeople full cut cap Yesterday (my youngest son is wearing a fleece lined wool cap).

Priceless Sam. Great cap too, but that one on your son...love it.

Dobbs Stringy Brim in Black to offset my gold accessories.

Embrace the stingy my friend. Classic early 60s lines.

Good Friday
Happy Friday to you as well Daniele. That pleated ribbon is really cool looking. The softness of that felt jumps out of these images, it appears so smooth and touchable.

Warm day today. Royal Stetson OR

Not shopping in an Stetson made under license in some unidentified Spanish speaking country. No sweatband or lining when I got it. Scott at Fine Vintage Fedoras cleaned, blocked and added liner and sweat. If anyone has info on where and when it may have been made please enlighten me.

2 different manufacturer tags seem to indicate 50s or maybe even 40s, but not sure the tags are a good indicator on licensed hats.
