Thank you, Ant.

Beautiful! I envy all who have vintage Stetsonians. Those are fantastic lids!

I love wearing it, even though it's a little tight and needs to be re-stretched or upsized. Not Akubra's fault; they sent the right size, 57. But one day I was in Meyer the Hatter downtown and was chatting with Mr. Sam, the family patriarch, and mentioned that the hat was a little loose. I took the Akubra off for a few minutes to try something else on . . . and when I turned around Sam had put a foam strip in under the sweatband. Fastened it, I mean, with the tape!

. . . (It's already had quite a few adventures, coming to me from Australia, then having its brim trimmed and a smaller ribbon added at Henry the Hatter in Detroit.)
Update, all,

Moon suggested I try removing the taped-in foam strip under the sweatband, to see if I could return the lid to its proper fit. So I dug it out this morning. The foam was partially stuck to the liner, and I was worried I was ripping the liner out. But everybody has read here about simply tucking the liner back under the sweat; and failing that I could always dispense with the liner entirely. Out it came, riiip riiip. I flipped the sweatband (which is the softer Heritage grade one) back down over the liner and tried the hat on. Darn near perfect; I may slip a couple of folded dollar bills in there. If the cooler weather continues, I'll wear it tomorrow.

Thanks for the tip, sir!

Glad it worked out

I enjoy my Akubra hats a hell of a lot more with the liners completely removed

It makes them a lighter wear and more comfortable in my opinion

Give it a try

Interesting center dent. I like.

Rescued from its box where it has been languishing over the summer. Time to break out some of these winter weather hats, as it's in the 30s this AM. Inspired by @Bamaboots' choice yesterday - 150th Anniversary Stetsonian in light gray.

And a brim up for Bob, because it looks good on this hat.

Since I don't wear anything that can stain the hat, I've removed the liners from several of my felts, like the dark brown Royal Stetson, and am perfectly happy to have no liner in several others. I may try it.

You forgot to add AWESOME to the center dent description!!! I love adding variants and texture to my dents and pinches....you actually see a LOT of that sort of thing in the 20's and 30's......
Great Job!!
