I'd like to take the time and thank everyone who wished my Mom a speedy recovery and offered up their thoughts and prayers for her. She should be released from the hospital sometime today to go to a rehab facility to get her up and walking again. With her scrappy attitude and sense of humor she should do very well. Thanks again everyone.

Wearing my 4X Stetson conversion this cool Thursday a.m. The hat was originally given to me by fellow Lounger, Anthony.
I wanted to come up with something resembling Alan Ladd's China hat.

It's nice to see your great conversions again Terry. Glad to hear your Mom is OK. That generation has plenty of gumption.

a fairly early OR accompanying me to a few antique shops to search for "gems" ...

I'd put this one in the very early 50s and it is made of the felt that we all dream of in a sort of muted sage green that is quite difficult to photograph accurately ... let's hope it brings me some hunting luck

If there ever could be a lucky hat, this one fits the bill in spades. Awsome.

Mike, the last photo is the most accurate of the actual color. More light gray with blue undertones. Certain light really brings out the blue. Thanks, you need to get an OR.

Thanks, Karl.

Thank you, Samuel. We don't get many Picasso references around here. I like it.

Thank you all for the likes and comments.
Funny you you mentioned that. I was thinking the same thing, using an obscure reference to Picasso's blue period, which for many is his best but most melancholy epoch. I love that blue transitional period in his oeuvre he had a vulnerability that was lost in his latter work. Glad you got it though.
