I've had this one about 30-35 yrs too. I checked the shade & it's a 14 so I'm good to go.Excellent. Jack, in 79 I was selling welding supplies and wore something similar. No Loopity Loop, though.

Kindly someone captured me deep in thought whilst with my business at an event. Here I'm wearing one of my own hats which I've distressed and has a 3 1/2" stiff brim.
Way to protect yourself from the apocalypse. Are you in the totality zone? We may need a Eclipse Hats thread for we who are in the path of destruction.I've had this one about 30-35 yrs too. I checked the shade & it's a 14 so I'm good to go.
Three fantastic photos! You both look great!
@Redfokker thank you Sir. I have. A few hats in the making for some clients so will post them once they are done.Very nice, we would love to see more of your creations, keep them coming.
Of course, the Cavanagh is a truly fantastic hat, but it might be a little stingy for protection. Great pug too.I'm in the totality area, alright... TOTALLY JEALOUS of those with that 2 minutes or so of darkness!!
I had the same #14 welders' glass for the last peek at an eclipse, but alas...
So to make the best of what I've got, a 1960s Cavanagh Milan...

Thin is where its at Jim! Lots of brim if you get any of the eclipse there in funkytown.Happy Eclipse Day, to all in the range of the effect!
Yesterday I started with going to mass, but last night I went to church. This is me and the Frunoliner funkin' it up at the George Clinton/Parliament-Funkadelic show on a sweaty night here in Funkytown. Always good to see the High Priest of Funk, and a good time was had by all.
For the record, George was wearing a wide-brimmed white Panama.
Sticking with the thin ribbons today in a Resistol San Antonio.
Sent directly from my mind to yours.

Great hat for the non-eclipse. At least the black will be with you.The rainy morning doesn't bode well for eclipse viewing here. Out of the totality area in any case. Sticking with the black hat today in this Beaver Brands Deluxe
