Went to dinner with the in-laws to plan the next family vacation to Hawaii in December. I thought an airy tropical hat was in order. So the Ortega straw from @FedOregon fit the bill.

It's looking nice and cool up this way, too. I've been wearing felt in the morning and straw in the afternoon. I was thinking I might even wear a suit and tie with a felt hat to church on Sunday!

Piloting a plane must be a real rush but flying scares me shitless.

This plane has a 90 hp Continental engine and cruises at 115 mph. It cannot do aerobatics and the "rush" is more that it is an easy plane to fly, but to fly it well requires attention and practice and when you get it right, it gives you a smile like few others - musicians will know that feeling amongst others. It has its risks, but anyone who rides a motorbike will have had their near misses as well.

I just like seeing the world at 1,500 feet at sunset - magic.
