Really? Crap, I wonder who this is? (millerhats.com) When I saw your hat I googled the name Gus Miller and that site came up. Thank god I said something otherwise I would have had the totally wrong site and person. If they are not the same person has anyone worked with something from that site? My apologies for the confusion.

Miller hats have been around for some time, and from all reports sell a nice hat. I have a shantung from them I rarely wear.

As Greg said, Mr. Gus Miller owns Batsakes Hat Shop in Cincinnati. He's been making hats since the 50s. Getting this one was a bucket list thing for me.

No internet, but he will take phone orders. It's best to go visit him, chew the fat, and get the whole experience though. He's a cool guy.

Sounds like a great place with some amazing history! If I am ever in the area I will have to swing in for sure. Thanks for the clarification as clearly you cannot trust everything on the internet lol! Nonetheless I may still look at purchasing a brown derby hat that millerhats.com lists. I am very glad to hear you were able to check one of your bucket list.

I have a Miller Hats Homburg picked up NOS on the Bay. It is made by Biltmore and labelled for Miller. I think, but willing to be corrected, Miller does not make hats but has them labelled and they are the retail merchant. Having said that, the Miller Hommie is a decent hat and represented good value for the money I paid. Perhaps check with them to see if they will tell you the maker of the Derby. I don't wear it so if you are interested in a mid Grey Hommie in 7 3/8" drop me a note.

A Gus hat is on my wish list but Cinncie is such a long way from here I fear Gus will be gone before I make the pilgrimage.

Took my daughter to feed the tortoises in my Tula Lattice Gardener. I've taken the stampede string out and added a leather hat band with a series of golden "Texas lone star" type emblems around it. While westerns are not usually my style and my wife prefers me in flat caps, I think this looks pretty good.
Special thanks to Joao Encarnado and Lean'n'Mean for getting me squared away on where the buckle is supposed to sit.

Well, if/when you do make it, be sure to get a shoeshine, too!

Yes, I have this recurring thought that if the chair is vacant I could offer to lease it from Gus. Then black people could come in and have their shoes shined by a white guy! I could do what I love (shining shoes), pontificating, AND hanging out in a hat shop. As close to heaven as I would probably ever get!
