So the wife was just a little upset. She quickly got over it though. Monday the nice thoughtful mailman came bearing another gift from Ebay. I didn't put it on until taking my kids to the park after dinner this evening. My new Stetson Temple in Tawny. I have to say that this hat is just slightly older, pre-2015 and says Sovereign instead of my other one which is a Royal De Luxe. I kind of like the feel and look of this felt better. Anyway here are the pictures. :) View attachment 78411

Is there any difference between the Temple and the Pinnacle. My Pinnacle is Beaver but the look is identical .

Yes, Happy Independence Day America!

Richmond Virginia has Monument Ave where at every intersection there is a statue of a CSA historical figure. There was a group that wanted all the statues removed because they weren't PC. I made the comment that maybe a street running parallel to Monument Ave could display statues of Union Army figures and that way the history for both sides could be learned. They didn't like my idea and said I was racist. Go figure.

Erasing/ignoring our history is a sure way to demolish the foundation we're standing on. Dangerous stuff. Imagine if Gettysburg had only Union statues...

A cloudy 4th morning. Going for a walk on a prairie with the Stetson Nutria Quality,

Have a fine and fun Independence Day,
Michael

I'm yet to come across one of those fabled Nuria hats. I understand they are indestructible and Cowboys loved them for just that reason.

I originally shot the photo outside but the ribbon was distorted in the image. I was forced to resort to this indoor photo. Anyway, I was out making arrangements to mail my 7 year old British Tan Optimo back to Chicago because the ribbon was badly wrinkled when it was originally sent to me. I tried several times to fix it but was never satisfied with the results of my efforts. Very annoying. Here is an Optimo in Light Grey which I am wearing today.

They do seem to be a very tough felt. This one is in near perfect condition and that is some achievement for a 60 year old service hat. I think it enjoyed it's outing on the wetland prairie, though this would be more muskrat country than nutria.

For today's bike outing I went with this straw like sun helmet,

It proved to be a very good companion. Cool ventilation, quiet, comfortable and zero aerodynamic lift. It will see quite a few bicycle trips over the next couple of months.

Thanks,
Michael
