Great hats today! I tried taking new pics this morning, but they were all blurry. Found out later the lense was all dirty. Anyway, this is an old file pic, but it's the same hat and Hawaiian shirt I'm wearing today. Sunny and 75 is on tap. Perfect for my purposes.... they're saying 93 by Tuesday. Ugh.

NW Hat Co. Silverbelly with Old Copper ribbon and bow treatment; matching brim binding. I love this sharp little hat!

Seriously nice lids today, Loungers. I'm late to the party cuz I've been Mr. Domestic today. Paused from the cleaning to eat lunch and take some selfies in Blue-riginal #5! Medium gray Czech rabbit cap (C/O ManHatCo), smoke gray Schiff ribbon edge binding, Navy Schiff crown ribbon, sweatband C/O @bond

Thank you! I finally got my process down for this style of edge binding (after, like... nine tries). Surprisingly, I find that a homburg style binding is much easier to accomplish than a whippet style! First it was the sizing of the ribbon, then it was the tacking of the ribbon, then I had issues with making sure the ribbon didn't scorch when being ironed flat, then there were issues with the grains of the ribbon not aiming toward the center of the hat (which looked sloppy). It was a battle but I think I finally nailed down my process:

1. Measure the end ribbon length as the actual circumference of the brim and sew as a closed loop.
2. Iron the length-wise fold of the ribbon.
3. Soak the entire ribbon
4. Lay the soaking ribbon on a flat surface and steam iron it into a circle (which also shrinks the circumference by a good quarter inch)
5. Sew the dried ribbon onto the brim.

That process is probably not what the other much more skilled makers in the Lounge would do, but it works for me haha.

I don't normally care for hats with flat or near-flat brims, but it really suits that hat and the hat, in turn, really suits you! Of your hats that I've seen, whether store bought or handmade, I think it just might be my favorite.

You definitely improved that hat. It looks great.
Actually, it's from scratch! Started out as a folded up piece of Czech rabbit fur and ended as seen above =)

Thanks so much! I definitely go for either flatter flanges or kettle curls -- my favorite styles =) My overall body type is very lean and I think the narrower profile of a flatter flange works well for me -- glad you agree!

Hey all!
Aaaahhhh...home again! And happy to be here!

About two hours from home, the vehicle I was travelling in decided to break down. So, stuck for half an hour on the side of the road with temps in the low 90's waiting for a tow truck, a couple hours in the nearest Honda dealership waiting for an estimate and to find out there wasn't a part in stock. Then the ride home in the loudest rental car I've ever been in, ironcally called a Nissan Note. Out of tune, I'd say.
All in all, a great trip, but it certainly makes you appreciate home a lot more.
The Gitmoe was a valiant soldier through the day's ordeal. Didn't get a pic cause I posted it already yesterday.
Have a great evening!

Edit: should probably show the front of the mug...us lefties...:)
