Merry Christmas everyone! After four hours of sleep and a big breakfast I'm ready for a long winter nap. Wearing the O'Farrell with my newly received gift -- a hat band from my wife (beadwork by Santa Fe artist Gayle Green / slide by Jimmy Begay, Jr. -- a long time friend).

Inexpensive semi-fedora from an outdoor sports big box store. (Wool, vented, underwelt, leather band.) As the giver said, it's another casual hat that can keep my head warm and dry.

BTW, the coolest gift is a certificate for a 6 hour sausage making class at my favorite butcher in the region. Bad news is that even though they're only a few blocks from Batsake's the classes are on Sunday, when Gus doesn't open for business.

Super Borsalino! Is that a model name or a commentary on the bash in the weather?

Thanks Red. It is a Borsalino product that is in their rain proof line. I would consider it a low quality felt treated with a chemical that allows it to be somewhat water resistant. I have a couple to wear on dicey days. It's rather stiff, but it keeps it shape and looks presentable when the weather gets rough. Perhaps some of our resident experts may be able to elaborate on this line of hats.

Some hats have satin linings and some do not.

A short break from cooking in the hat I actually settled on for the day. Portis.

And some slightly warmer clothes for this cool and rainy Christmas. Is that turkey done yet?

Hope all is progressing according to plan for you all.

Looking dapper this Christmas day. Enjoy the bird, I'm being treated to prime rib by gourmet Brother in Law.

Nice Homburg, love the color. Is that liner an optical illusion? The Mallory Ten logo is uber cool!
Thanks Mike. Merry Christmas.

No optical illusion. Nifty finishing touch. I think that 40cal has a Ten fedora with the same style liner.

But here are a couple of optical illusions...

In what direction are the bars moving within the box?

No hat today. The wife and I had a quiet Christmas together. I put a 6lb prime rib on the Green egg and cooked it to a med, she does not care for rare, a quick corn dish, some sautéed kale and mushrooms , with a small piece of cheesecake for lunch made our special day. The weather was so warm, it's still 74 here at 6pm that I did not need a hat for my brief trips outside.
