It's an Icarus-- just picked it up at Iwan Ries. Hadn't heard of Icarus before-- machine turned, hand finished, very lightweight. That was its maiden voyage with some simple black cavendish. Smokes like a dream. I have some crumble cakes on the way I'm looking forward to trying.

T Jones: My custom from NW Hats is on the block right now. Can't wait to pick it up. Had Mike do a custom 1942 Rose Bowl 75th Anniversary beaver fedora. OSU is celebrating it's only Rose Bowl victory, the 1942 game that was played in Durham NC against Duke. The attack on Pearl Harbor cancelled the Pasadena game. The displaced Rose Bowl is the only game not played in California. I took mike a picture from the 1942 Beaver (Oregon State College) yearbook and he is matching a photo of the "best dressed student". I can't wait to be able to post photos on FL.

NW Hats in Eugene? I keep thinking about driving down there to look at the hats and maybe get in a custom order. Very nice, quality hats there!

We had a wonderful weekend in Antwerp.

Starting off at Grand Café De Rooden Hoed (the red hat, how appropriate) for a drink.

Then, after meeting up with Esther we took a short walk through the center.

You can see the cathedral from about ever street in the city.

We had a great meal, Italian. Forgot the name of the restaurant, though.

After dinner, more walking. This time to the Schelde river.

Beautiful views right?

We crossed de Schelde by way of a beautiful art deco tunnel.

After crossing the river again, We visited two more churches and finished with a drink in a really nice old café.

Mike is a great guy. He has put a LO in a number of my hats. We have a great time talking about hat history and the industry. It is always a special day when I drive the 40min to the South from my home to his shop. Great hats to look at and try on as well!
