Well, Cindy, the colors you see all show up in the granite felt depending on the light. I do play with the brims on other hats to get that shape. Some attempts are successful and some aren't. Art flanged these brims based on some photos of Stetson 100s that I sent him, and they have a slight western curl. The dimensions of the new hats are basically the classic Open Road dimensions. Some of the Open roads I have don't lend themselves to the flat brim shape because trying to re-shape the crowns to fit my long oval head can distort the brims. Since Art blocks the crowns to fit the head it's supposed to fit, the brims are flanged properly and don't distort.

Hello, y'all. I've missed the chapeau banter a good deal on my vacation. I never seem to take pictures of myself, and I only have this one from my trip. Glad to be back in my own bed.

1mach1 - Awesome Knox.
Luvmyman - I agree about those Resistols. The only sale I've really regretted was a 40's Resistol that fit like a glove.

I'm wearing my 50's Stephan's of Berwyn, Illinois Milan.

I am knowing all about how the Long Oval makes a brim go all wonky! Haha! I always have to tweak Daniel's hats for him. He is fairly Long Oval and to get a brim flat I have to hat jack a bit before I do anything to the brim. I have learned to steam the hat brim for a long time before having the hat jack get sorta tight, then will increase the size a bit more with the jack. Then after it has just sat for about 10 minutes, I take the jack out and use my steam iron (covering the top of the brim with an old white cotton cloth that I have) and go all around the brim a few times. That takes most of the cup out of the brim and all the wonky out as well. A few times I left the hat jack in as the brims were fighting me! Had to steam the hat more than once. Easiest hat I have ever worked on is one of Daniel's vintage Strats. The hat Esther made was also super easy to do the long oval stretch and only a light amount of ironing was necessary. Of course she has the use of a wire under the brim edge treatment that really helped a great deal! Love that hat a lot! Now it is Daniel's favorite hat!

I've seen you wear that one before, but can you please tell me what LC means?

Nice shot and welcome back. You look happy as a clam there!

I'm sweating like a dodo!
Hot and balmy day!

Dodo's sweat?

Off to church this AM in Grandma Anna's Royal Stetson.

One of the ushers at church, who has asked about my hats in the past, was wearing a boater today! I hope I'm an influence, LOL.

Nice hat and overall look there! More great hat pins also. You win my vote for best hat pins ever!
Thanks Cindy, you are very kind.

Some of badges and pins have been with me for a long, long time, I have a Cork board full of them, ome day I tried one on a hat and now I like them in my hats.

Some are real old, some are repros, but I love them on my hats !!!!

Like the sense of history and pride on the real old ones, civilian's, like the Strat and DC 3 planes and military's, like The paratroopers, Scottish Greys, all the Aussie Light Cavalry ones, etc.

Have a great day !!!
