That's a great hat, any way you cut it.

Get to leave the office early for a business road trip and an overnight visit with my folks in Richmond. Needed a tighter fit for interstate travel so I grabbed the blue Dobbs Fifteen.

Happy rest of the day, everyone.

Quite possibly my favorite hat on the lounge. Really special. Always a pleasure to see it.

Well, the day went from chilly and foggy to sunny and hot. Had to make a pit stop and swap felt for straw. This Pantropic panama that I found at the thrift store yesterday for 4 dollars to be specific. It had a stampede cord that I cut off, and a reshaping to make it look less like a gardening hat and more like a fedora.

Might have to do something about that boring twill tape band.

I was going to wear my Stetsonian today but I think it pales in comparison to the fine example you have there.

Thank you, but I'm sure anything I have pales in comparison to what you wear.

Decided to wear my Stetson Shore Club today. I forgot how much I like this hat!

What a great hat. I really dig the narrow brim binding and that ribbon width.

Awaiting the predicted rain, wearing my Akubra Heritage-grade Silverbelly Campdraft. I put a center-dent/pinched-front crease in the hat when I got it a couple of years ago, but rarely wore it. Since I changed it to a diamond crease a few months back, I wear it all the time now. Go figure.
Funny how that works, isn't it? When I got my Taupe Fawn Campdraft two years ago I gave it the usual Teardrop crease and snapped the front of the brim waaaayyyyy down, just the way I like it. And...I wasn't crazy about the hat. I wore it that way for about a year, then decided maybe I'd like it better if it had a C-Crown, so I reshaped it. Nothing. Again, I wore it that way for quite a while, then decided to go back to the Teardrop, but raise the crown height a little. That helped, but I still wasn't crazy about it and decided the color was probably the reason I didn't like the hat. Then, about a month ago, it finally dawned on me--the hat wasn't happy with the brim snapped down so far, and I hadn't been listening to it. So I brought the brim back up to the amount of snap the flanging would normally allow, and we've been almost inseparable ever since. o_O

Yeah, sometimes I'm a slow learner. :D

Liner is from a 100... sweatband says 7XCB.
Excellent point Joao. I'm uncertain if the two were mutually exclusive throughout the production period. I've only had the time to give the hat a cursory look today, so I haven't looked under the band. Everything looks original so far.

Hopefully, more can be discovered as I fiddle around with it (and its box) this weekend. And hopefully fellow loungers can help. So much of what I have read about Stetson's quality designations especially in the fifties and sixties is confusing.

Another interesting thing to me is that I am having a hard time finding examples of 100s and 7xs in this style. All I have seen around the internet are OR. I wonder if the particular retiring employee would have the ability to give any input on the design of his or her retirement hat.

One thing that I'm sure of so far is that the felt is just insanely nice.

Ahhhh, the joy of hat mysteries...
