Stetson Saxon in Caribou today, along with a Dobbs tie. Was surprised to find I don't own a grey Dobbs hat to match the tie, so I'm on the hunt for a hat to make a set. Any excuse to buy a new hat. :)

A tie can make or break a 'look.' Get it right and it sets off the outfit, but in my case, the tie, the hat, the vest/waistcoat are all doing their part to take your eye away from the wearer. That's not me, I'm much too young to be that old. It's that sadistic alter ego of mine, does it to me all the time. A photoshot, he gets in the way, adjust the tie in the mirror, he's there again. He's so annoying, photo-bombing all my pics, it's easy to see it's not me. I am forever 18.

Recent production Stetson "Whippet."
It's funny, I prefer open crowned hats. I like to be able to put an old-school bash on them. What's funny is that the blocked Whippet is a hat I often grab when I'm just stepping out for a spell. Brim up, brim down, still looks good and wears comfortably. I wear it as much as anything else—the grey (caribou) goes with anything. You certainly look good in yours. There may be a tawny on my list.

I've gotta get around to the open crown/blocked crown Whippet comparison.

No pics, but my re-bashed BG CD got a good soaking today—raining right proper when I got off the bus. Just about dry now.

Great looking hats everyone! I envy the nice collection of lids! Going with a thin ribbon later today and a repost of a '50s era Bradford Westerner 7X Quality, whatever that meant in Bradford terms back in the day...

Before they were Simon and Garfunkel, they were Tom and Jerry. "Baby Talk" 1959

The original version. Jan and Dean before they created the "Surf" sound

I've spent many nights at Mel's on Sunset half in the bag at 3 AM.
Those were the days.
Sometimes I miss Los Angeles ... But most of the time I don't :)

Thanks foamy. I'd have gotten an open crown at the time if it was avaliable and reasonably priced.

That's the most poetic statement I've read on here. Reminds me a bit of Jorge Luis Borges, the great Argentinian writer.
