Nice lids today everyone. Weather here is about to get real nasty so don't know if I have a hat for what's coming. Like that west coast weather better!

A bit too breezy for a Fed today, but I'm stubborn ;)

It absolutely suits you to be stubborn, Richard. At least we don't get so much white stuff on our hats these days.

Alan: I so envy your enormous and unbelievable collection. Wow, what an out-of-this-world hommie-leaning 7XCB ... and with felted edge! The jacket complements the hat perfectly. Super choise!

Joao--that's one way to get some personal space on a train. Wear a wide-brim hat.
Yes it is. And it is a way to spot me fast.

Cool to see... is this a vintage car? Do the hang straps hang free on the bar?
Yes and Yes.
Those cars are the original rolling stock from 54 years ago. They served more than 40 years. They kept 2 cars (one unit) in pristine condition. The rest was scrapped.

Originally built on Germany.
Sometimes they promote a ride with this vintage rolling stock. It is always a pleasure to ear those cars motors. This year they made christmas events for children. I travelled a lot on them on my youth.

Joao - nice photos. I holidayed on the Isle of Wight a few years back, and was amazed to discover their railway uses refurbished 1930's London Underground trains.
Cool. But no one refurbished those. They were scrapped. One those 2 vehicles remain.

Joao I like the way you wear that big brim western, it looks good.
Thanks :D

Thanks for sharing. When I went to high school in the 1960s the Canarsie line was still running old cars... among the oldest on the NYC subways at that time. The conductors and controls for operating the doors were inside the passenger section of the car. The upholstered woven wicker seats were getting pretty chewed up by then, but I loved them.

Thank you for the nice note, Ole. You might enjoy the original photos of this hat. It was in good shape, but I decided to have it altered to fit me better. It's an earlier post war 7X which might have always been in this upbrim form or it might have been altered and ventilated for the owner... not sure. The felt is really quite special.

OMG, what a gem! No wonder you got it fitted with a life-saver-trolley. Is it a neutral gray, or is it a creamy/eggy/sandy color? Should you ever get tired of the padding, I'll just remind you, that I'm a 7 1/4 ;)

Oh, and thanks for lesson #2, btw. Now I guess, I know a "WAR" from a "TAR" lol

Alan - that is a rare beauty. I'm extremely envious!

Joao - thanks for sharing those photos - I'm glad they've kept them. This is a bit more on the Isle of Wight service - 75yr old rolling stock still in daily use: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_483 - if you're ever in UK it's worth a visit. I wish I'd managed to get up to London for this last year: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-21004315.

Che - Stunning!

Latoso - great family shot.

Jeff - they look great on you.

Thanks for the comments on yesterday's.

gear-guy, dh66, Thanks guys. I really appreciate your comments on my Open Road.

This morning from Central Ohio we're anticipating a big snow to come in this afternoon. Low temps for the week are expected to drop below 0 degrees. One morning is expected to drop to -11 below! I guess we're about due here in Buckeye country! The last few years we enjoyed mild winters. Well, at least we won't have as many mosquitos and flys to contend with next Spring!

Che, Buddy, I love the Portis. Very nice hat!
Latoso, Nice looking group! Nice collection of lids too!
Jedw, Really nice looking Resistols! Looks like you had a good time, and the perfect hat for listening to a Country & Western band!

Can't help it guys but I really like this Western! Had to wear it again this morning!

...and as requested, here's a pic of me smiling. I don't like it though. I'm not going to make a habit of it. It makes my face hurt...
