Steve - thanks for the BB comment. I love to wear this hat - a real favorite with character.

Jeff - hey, getting back to your bowler roots!

Andy - nice looking Fed IV.

John - it is always cool to see your photos of you and your son. I'm with you, while it is obviously possible to wear felt hats in warm weather, a straw is so much more comfortable.

Ed - that is a cool Resistol Milan, perfect for the warm weather.

Jeff, Your Black Eilerman's Derby looks great! It's a joy to see the stiff felts in action!

Andy, Great Akubra Fed IV Deluxe in Moonstone! I will trade you my DC - Baltimore weather!

John, Great photos! Also super Panama and Boater combo!

Ed, Fantastic ribbon on your Vintage Resistol ventilated Milan! Super!

Mike, Another fantastic ribbon / pug! The BSHW Pandora wears great too!

July Travels

Wrapping up our week here in Southern California. We will be heading to LAX late this evening, bound for the Orient.

A beautiful day to enjoy the water, yesterday afternoon. Perfect conditions to take the kids kayaking.

Hollywood Boulevard late yesterday evening after catching a great triple-header at Sid Grauman's historic Egyptian Theatre.

Early this morning with Mom's flowers...

...at low tide, before heading to Pasadena for the flea market at Pasadena City College.

David, great Montecristi

Jef, awesome Derby! I like it!

Orange, great Akubra!

Job, I love it! You both have some serious style and class!! Two fine lids for some fine fellas!

TWH, Awesome Milan. That pug just POPS!

Mike, scowling or not, that hat looks great!

Al, I always seeing your posts! Such beautiful places you take us. Thank you for posting your travels!

I am really wearing this one a lot, as the lighter color helps in the heat. Borsalino Alessandria (unknown vintage).

Al, Great combo of Panamas. Also usual fab photo series! Have a safe trip!

Justin, Your Borsalino Alessandria looks great! Light weight Borsalino felts work well in high heat.

David, Jeff, Orangegrad, job & son, Ed, Mike, Al, Justin--nice hats, all.

Justin, the Mallory I posted yesterday is a lot like the Alessandria, thin-ribboned with a lightweight felt, and is good in higher temps. But the unlined Stetson Playboy is even better. It works for me into the mid 80s.

Great hats over the weekend, and too many for me to catch up with individual comments.

My weekend wear:

Olney Crushable fur felt:

Cheap straw I've had for years:

Thanks much, David! I have enjoyed your Montecristis of late as well, although I miss seeing your Fastback!

Unfortunately the Fastback just didn't work out for me. I'll give Optimo another try, at some point - at the store this time.

Splintz - I like the Borsalino

G - nice Playboy

Richard - those hats work well with your weekend casual look.

Disney Milan for me on yet another warm muggy morning

Nice, Perry!

David, I love those wider brimmed milans. My Dobbs Milan is my favorite straw, and I hardly wear it for fear of ruining it.

All, beautiful shots, and I'll second the safe travels!

Justin, that is fantastic.

So far this morning, my pure beaver black fedora by Dennis Brooks. It's gonna get hot and humid, but beaver breathes better than rabbit, so it might stay on head...

So much to catch up on, which I hope to accomplish over the next couple of days. Maybe my desk at the office will be empty and I can withdraw into hats. :)

Manfred, I love the photo of you with your son.

cheers,
Alan
