Argyle - the short brim works well with the rugged outfit.
GTDean & Sam - nice looking very different campdrafts.
OG - Looks good. Wet & humid here.
Robert - beautiful Mossant. I love the look of the vintage Mossants and Flechets.
Mike - great colour to that straw.
AL - Gorgeous Montecristi - enjoy your trip.
Bowlerman - that felt looks highly moldable. I like the pecan colour too.

TJ - An Englishman in disguise then :) Kent or Sussex?

--------

Thanks for the comments on yesterday's Stetson and the feedback on black hats.

Obviously I had to go for a black one today:

Vintage English - probably Dunn & Co, probably 30-s to early 50's. Cleaned up, new liner and steamed and shaped. Not bad for £15 and a couple of hours work.

...Oops, my mistake. I was actually thinking of a town in Kentucky that is 40 miles South of Ashland...I was born in Ruislip in the county of Middlesex....Not sure where that is from London...Really nice hat, btw. You wear it well my friend.

Got home from work and put this Stetson lightweight on...

Fresh from Robert's recent hat listings! I gave it a good steaming and a little iron to add some stiffness back in to it. It still might go off for a blocking, though. Thanks, Robert!!

Very nice AnA! Nice proportions on that thing. Color too.

MoK, looks like you're a homburg natural. I've been eyeing my black hats since reading yesterday's conversations, but difficult to put them on with khaki shorts and white t shirts.l, my daily summer attire. Even I have to draw the line somewhere.

An all-American day for me today.

My early '50s 3X Beaver Open Road. The pendant is by Navajo artist Peter Nelson, whose jewelry is inspired by the rugs crafted by his mother and sisters. The ring is an ebay purchase - an old dead pawn Navajo sterling with turquoise and coral inlay. With a jeweler's loop, the hand-made intricate detail becomes evident. Though there are Navajo artists who still have the skill to craft rings such as this, the skill is fading away, and soon all that will remain are those pieces created in years past.

This picture belongs in a museum. The green on green and grey on grey play wonderfully together. Splendid photo!!

All credit goes to my wife, whose photos of me in my hats come out better than when I hold the camera and point it at myself. That Stetson lightweight looks fantastic by the way.

Orangegrad--I really like the crease in the OR. Nice photo, too.

Historyteach--congrats on the new CRM.

Richard--I would have to agree with the others, Homburgs suit you very well.

Jeff--nice Knox.

I just picked up this Dobbs lightweight. The only identifier is on the sweat band. There are a few references in older posts here and there about this hat. It's in fair condition and will need some stiffener since the brim will not hold a shape.

Thanks for all the comments on the Homburg. I like Homburgs, and despite admiring the skill of some of the conversions into fedoras, always feel a slight pang of unease when they're converted for saleability. I'm on the look out for a nice vintage brown or navy one, but with my 60.5cm head they're not exactly commonplace... Wearing a suit, or at least a sport coat to work most days gives me reasonable opportunity to wear one. Bowlerman - you could try swapping the white T for a black polo ;)

-----------------------------------

AnA - looks good - doesn't look like it needs a reblock from the photo.

Andy - great colour.

HistoryTeach - I like the uneven pinch and that strong slant - really distinctive.

GD - Looks like a nice find - ideal for the warmer weather.

Interesting; I kinda like wearing my black fedora with khaki shorts and t-shirts. I think it can be worn very casual. I'm wondering if a black shirt might be too much black. Now, a grey polo w/ narrow black horizontal stripes, khaki's, and a black hat would be another story. ;)

AnA - looks good - doesn't look like it needs a reblock from the photo.

Thanks! I steamed this hat even more today, this time on the crown. With some additional brushing, I was able to smooth out the lumps and stiffen up the felt to a more acceptable feel. I love felt hats!

G - I like the new Dobbs.

AnA - spectacular Stetson. That's the one from Robert, right? So far I've resisted his sales, but there are some great hats there.

Che - excellent stuff, as usual!

Have a great July 4th evening, everyone!
