Thanks for the comments on the Breton cap.

HatsRme & Javier - nice to see the photos of your fathers. My father will reluctantly wear a cotton sun hat if my mother nags him, and a wool beanie for beach fishing in the middle of winter, but isn't a hat man at all. My wife's father wore a beret or hat everyday.

Steve - that Huckle is truly beautiful - I love that pale ribbon and trim against the grey felt.

gD - Very nice pair, the Steson playboy being a touch sharper looking, but the VS looks that little bit more refined.

Che - wonderful photos, and a great looking cap.

Nice Hopkins! I just did some research on the Company, and am hoping the (grey felt) Homburg I saw at a local antique store is still available. Can't remember the exact quote from the old newspaper article that I read on Hopkins, but it was something to the effect that men had been wearing their straws for Straw Hat day for generations (before they closed shop). The same article credited the company with bringing "Panama" hats to the states.

John

Thanks John. I really enjoy this hat. Not the finest weave, but just right for a warm day. I like the swoopy brim too.

Yes, Hopkins was a big deal back when Baltimore was a major hat center. You might have seen this article before: http://articles.baltimoresun.com/20...0508_1_straw-hat-day-paca-lombard-hat-s-crown

Brent Black Panama today

Che - great photos out with the little ones. Problem is that time passes so fast and they are little adults before we know it.

Did that lens require the reflex housing?

Not a requirement, because the viewfinder in that M3 body (and in my later M4, etc.) had framing lines for that focal length. The "Visoflex" system, which came out shortly after this specific lens, does accommodate this lens. I have that piece as well (Viso III or IV, I forget...) but rarely used it with that lens. All that equipment is now best used as boat moorings, or anchors, sadly. (Don't worry, I won't do that!) The lenses are still spectacular.

Great hats and kind comments, gentlemen. And that's why we're ALL HERE. Thank you!

This Victor began life as an OR clone. Because of stains on the crown, Graham at Optimo turned it inside out, and added a WAR. Now it's a nice wide brim fedora.

Hi hatophile, is this a Victor make (e.g. Victor Hatco) or a Victor model (e.g. Borsalino Victor)?
It's certainly a great item, I'd expect no less from any hat with Victor in its name, regards...viclip
(PS ~ it's a secret what the 1st three letters of my handle might be a contraction of)

gtdean - you're not doing my potential relations with my bank manager any favours. I'm going to crack soon and order an Akubra.

David - looking very cool.

Robert - Looks great - nice liner.

Perry - Graham has done a great job on that conversion. I wish we had some hat specialists over here still.

Sam - Great Pork Pie - is that a recent purchase?

Manfred - I didn't know about the Prinz Heinrich name. The same style seems to be popular in several countries - Greek fishermen wear something very similar. I know nothing about their history.

HatsRMe - I love using old lenses (50's - 70's Nikkors for me) - they have a character you don't get with modern ones.
