I like it, Alan. I think we could use a Plastic Felt thread with the Mallory and now two Stetson examples.

Thanks... I had the same thought. I will get that going with some additional photos shortly.

Though it didn't say "Plastic Felt," I did own a Dobbs from the same era as your Plastic Felt Stetson with the same type of round concentric stiching and recycled wool content. I wasn't going to add it to the thread, but wanted to get yours and Lefty's opinion first. This hat was most likely Hat Corp of America's version of Plastic Felt.

Thats 100% wool, no synthetic content. Lots of caps made that way at the time and probably lots of cheap hats that didn't survive. Nothing to do with plastic. Could go in the Wool Hat Thread.

Hats with Casein(usually wool) mention that content as woolens required labeling unlike fur felts.

Gary Oldman might be the most versatile actor ever, from Dracula to Zerg to Drexl Spivey to Commissioner Gordon and so on.

He's fantastic.

Great hats everyone! I have some detailed perusal yet to do for the past few days. Alan and Josh those are super! Al, wonderful as always.

Manfred, I hope you are feeling better!!!

A Dobbs with a wide dark cherry or burgundy wide ribbon, for WAR Weds. This is a thick, plush felt, perfect for a cold, windy day on which I saw my first snow ever, in Mesa, AZ.

And by the way, who is that wrinkled old man wearing that hat? Jeez, how did that happen? I feel your pain on the unflattering picture front, Eric!

Eric, great hat and a good photo, don't worry!

Alan, bump.. what a great looking hat, rare to see. Nice pattern and stitching. Looks perfect on you!

Josh, also a very nice example. Looks good.. Seems is 100 wool.

Frank, very dressy, cool hat!

Jeff, thanks that you asked. fever is gone and the antibiotic do a good job!

Scooter, sharp hat with the nice ribbon! You look very good with him.

Hey, Rusty. Thanks for the pics from your trip to Mike's. I love his new sign, and I'm real interested in seeing your finished wedding hat.
