Gene, The Natural is one of my favorite movies. I just watched it again the other day, and the hat his father wears in the beginning of the movie is such a classic!! I can't believe you have one!!! :hail:

I've actually been thinking about that hat quite a bit. Wanted to commission a hat just like it. Thanks for showing it! The sweatband ribbon is TDF~!!!

If your hat maker of choice wants some specs from this one, lemme know and I'll send measurements. Although, note that I wear a 7 - so if you are a wildly different size, the proportions may need to differ.

Thanks Jacob, and all. I tell ya, I have messed with this brim so much in terms of swoop, angle of the "roll" dipping the front and/or back, raising the sides, etc... and I have never been able to get that pencil roll to look even-- it's always kinda rumpled, and it has no flange. I'm thinking about either sending it to a western hatter to get a real pencil curl and a flange, or taking the curl out altogether and doing some kind of welt. I wonder if there's a perfect matching ribbon binding out there somewhere for that Black Cherry beaver felt.

Okay, for instance here's a Wormser lord's hat. Granted, the crown is lower, and has a bit more taper, but I think that's what an unbound pencil curl should look like, and was originally what I had in mind for the black cherry hat.

Today I just went with a modern cap & 1931 Overcoat. I have. Not the greatest of photos (my Girlfriend's cameraphone is horrible)

I'm in Barichada which is a 6 hour drive outside of Bogota, Colombia and pretty much in the middle of nowhere. It's very hot so I ditched my felt fedora and bought this very cheap panama from a tiny shop here which I proceeded to reshape. Really surprised how it took to reshaping.

Careful, lil' bro'. They weren't into warning labels much back in the day, as they say, but if they had been they'd cautioned you not to tread down the path I've wandered. It's great when the girls swoon. Not so much when you catch hell from the one at home.

Today it was the Resistol 3X western. Poor guy got soaked completely through for the very first time.

3X is not enough to get that kind of weather. My first 4X Stetson took days to dry and it bleed ink in the process.
