What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

My favorite hats. So far today, I've worn three of them....The fur Ambassador this morning to drop my fiance off at work at five AM, the Harris Tweed cap most of the day, and my John Davis Gold Label Beaver 20 for my doctor's appointment early on. (that's the one between the gray and rust Glenn-plaid pork-pie and the straw Carol & Co. hat), and the cap is right between the fur Ambassador and the Cavanagh.

Teach - the Whippet is a vintage one from the early 50's; it has the OPS tag. Here's a Stetson ad that shows it:

There are a few of them around - Al (Delectans) also has one that you'll see here from time to time.

Thanks Jeff... it is the western model that came to be called Alessandria... but an older one, likely pre-1950, marked Ludoela. The color is Monrov and I like it too. It is very hard to photograph - deep brown with a green tinge. This picture shows it pretty well.

AL, that is a great look. The portrait reminds me of a family favorite... a photo of my brother and me taken by my dad with my mom standing off camera and yelling at us to stop fidgeting and stand up straight and smile. The photo has us facing forward but with our eyes on the director, showing the same expression as yours in photo #1. My mom was a force to be reckoned with. I'll have to find it.

Would love to see that photo, Alan. I can tell from your wonderful portrait of her that your Mom was a real firebrand! Thanks for your kind words and the nice little trip down memory lane, of siblings posing for their Mom.
