Alan I really like the portrait of the astronomer as well as the 2nd planet from the Sun. Would you believe it, on the last night of the Venus-Jupiter conjunction we have howling winds and a cold, cold rain. Glad you have clear skies and were able to capture this celestial meeting for us to enjoy on the thread.

Mike: Lovely hatted portrait.

I am hopelessly behind in commenting on the myriad beautiful hats posted to this thread over the past week and weekend, so will instead proffer a collective :eusa_clap to everyone as I look forward to yet another wonderful week of great lids.

My contribution from this past weekend, a rather unusual one which allowed me to wear fur felt and straw as well as cashmere and linen:

Friday evening, after a warm day. Ryan's Optimo Montecristi...

...next to my Optimo Milan at a late supper.

I love my straws every bit as much as my felts and savored the opportunity to wear straw in March...a rare occurrence here in Minnesota.

A foggy Saturday morning, heralding yet another warm and muggy day. Stetson Breakers, with linen.

It felt more like early Summer rather than early Spring.

Saturday evening at Orchestra Hall, Minneapolis for the Minnesota Orchestra concert.

Music Boosters fundraiser pancake breakfast early Sunday morning at our local Eagles Club. Temperatures dropped thirty degrees overnight so I switched back to felt. Optimo. Silverbelly.

Pork Roast & Sauerkraut Dinner at the Germanic American Institute at midday. An event we never miss.

Catching the Sunday matinee performance of the splendid musical "Memphis" at the Ordway in St. Paul. The Landmark Center in the background. If you love musicals, this show is NOT to be missed!

Al, as always some great shots and great hats.

Thanks for your comment Manfred. Like Al I also love my straw hats as much as my felt ones. I'm trying to build a good variety of each.

Manfred: Thank you, my friend! Sauerkraut was unbelievable. Best we have had anywhere. Lydia has been trying to wrangle the recipe for years, but alas, it is a closely guarded secret recipe from Germany, and we only have this one opportunity every year to enjoy it. They serve over 300lbs. of the delicious sauerkraut, and the pork, potatoes and green beans are done to perfection. Switching gears from food to fedoras, your Rehfus is simply outstanding, definitely one of your very finest hats! :eusa_clap

Wildblue: Appreciate your kind words! Your new ensemble from a few pages back looks splendid.

job: Look forward to your additions to your fine stable of straws this season.

David: Cooled down here as well. Looks like our little March fling with straw is over. Great looking Whippet you are sporting this morning. That Bluegrass color is both beautiful and versatile, and exhibits a very dynamic, chameleon-like quality.

Nice Whippet, David. Looks greyer than usual under those lights (flourescent?). Where's your Tumwater today?

Al-- magnificent. All of them. I love seeing detailed pics of those Optimo Montecristi weaves. I don't think I want another Panama until I can find/afford a nice tight weave like that!

Lovely!! Looks really good on you.
Pretty much identical to one that I have - same colour (although difficult to tell precisely from the monitor!), same beautifully executed double bow. Mine is marked 'G. Hirschmann - Glatz, Geislingen - Steige'.

(Will have to get around to posting pics one of these days, rather than just enjoying other peoples posts.....)

Wearing my Stetson Whippet. This tawny colored felt hat started me in the hat arena. The gusty winds this morning have me tugging it on snug.

Al, thank you very much my friend for your too kind words. I appreciate it much. The Rehfus is very rare. I have no seen more exemplare of this.
My Wife could be help for a Sauerkraut recipe but I must see that I find the right words for it.
Germans designations are not the same as US designations.
