Thanks, Hatophile. I looked at many different Akubras and of course from that bunch that I liked the most was the Bushman but the felt looked too soft for my taste and I wanted just a touch bit wider brim. The tall crown is also very coveted as it elongates my face and so because of that I stay away from short crowned hats or stingy brims otherwise I get the dreaded pumpkin head affect. So this one is a keeper and a lifer for me. Perfect...

Perry: Thanks, I am glad the Sloppy Joe did not disappoint! Great looking Stetson. Are you wearing it open crown?

Ale: Much obliged! You are always too kind.

scooter: Thank you, I really appreciate your kind remarks. I deliberated at length about whether to choose something else to eat...a Subway sandwich, perhaps, and agonized about whether to take my hat off while eating. In the end, however, with several hundred energetic teenagers running around the open cafeteria at this high school, I reckoned my lid was safer on my noggin, and gave in to my penchant for nostalgia and chose the Sloppy Joe.

Jeff: Many thanks, and I for one have noticed that you have made yourself scarce 'round these parts lately! Hope to see you posting again soon.

Alan: As always, my friend, thank you! The Sloppy Joe was a "gourmet" version whipped up by a very dedicated student's mother, and it was mouthwatering, if a bit sloppy. Had to go to the mens room to wash up immediately afterwards before inspecting my jacket, tie and lid for collateral damage. The telephone booth dates to the '30s or '40s, I believe, and the phone is probably of '80s-'90s vintage. Yeah, I remember those rotary dial phones, too! lol You look absolutely suited to check on the livestock and horses on your "ranch" today. :llama:

Manfred: Thank you very much, my friend! :yo:

Great first half of the day, gentlemen!

David-- that color is sublime. I've been pining over a hat that color, and finally ordered one from Parker Melvin, still undecided on the ribbon... but your VS with matching ribbon is really gorgeous.

Al-- what a pictorial! How did Ryan do in the solo/ensemble festival? Wonderful lids to go along. That Optimo never gets old. I forget-- was that stock or custom?

I'm listening to choirs of spring birds through my wide open windows today (!) and a quick jaunt to the grocery store warranted my Falcon Park.

Perry: As I thought, center crease with shallow side pinches. Looks fantastic, and one could never confuse you with an Amish gent.

Jeff: Thanks! Ryan secured the highest possible rating from the judges for his violin and vocal solos, as well as his string quartet. It was a very long day for us, trying to make it to as many of his classmates' and friends' performances as well as those from the other schools. It was very rewarding to see the countless hours of dedicated and focused practicing come to fruition in the form of wonderful perfomances...under considerable pressure. All of the participants deserved high praise.

My Optimo Silvebelly is a one-off. Not in the line-up, but not strictly speaking custom, either. You are conjuring up a vision of an early Spring with your writing, but it does feel like Spring is right around the corner. I really like your Falcon Park. Looks like luscious felt.

David, that color combination is a favorite of mine. Purple and green are the bomb. Must be why I am always opening bottles of red wine. The VS is a striking statement - looks great on you.

Thanks, Alan. Art's Black Cherry felt is great it because it seems to match nothing, but compliments a lot of colours.

Great first half of the day, gentlemen!

Jeff, if the FP version of the Black Cherry is similar (maybe the same?) to Art's, you are in for a treat. And talking of FP, yours is just the job for this morning.

Another super hat day all around, gentlemen!

Hmm, my first thought was that trimming the brim on a CD would be a bad idea.

Seeing the two versions side by side, the "stingy" CD looks really good. Amazing how a small change in that brim dimension creates a totally different look.

I am loving the looks of this brim!!!
I believe I will rip the binding of the other Camp Drafts I have and get Mike to trim them next time I am at his shop!
You really need to see the difference in person to see why I like the trimmed brim so much.
