Thanks joshbru and bowlerman. As you note, the color and proportion ARE great. They really did make 'em well back then.

Perry: Thanks!

Al-- great shots! I especially like the Saturday evening shot with your violin case and blue Dobbs-- there IS a violin in there, right? ;-)

Thanks, Jeff, and you are looking splendid, old chap! Regarding the violin case...so who wants to know what Ize got in there, huh? :cool2: Kidding, good one, Jeff lol

delectants, I love your hats. Could you tell me how wide the brim is on that brown '20s/'30s Dobbs?

Thank you, bostonbrewer! The earlier Dobbs has a 2-1/4" brim, with a 5-1/4" crown. I have some detailed photos and hat statistics in the Dobbs Diner thread, and I will be posting many more photos of this hat from different angles in the Fedoras Afield thread soon.

Welcome to the lounge! :yo:

Im wearing my new-to-me Dobbs 40. I put a crease in the hat last night. I chose to go with a centerdent and 1920's style "Mickey Mouse ears" side dents.

Thanks to you too, DRB and hatophile, for your compliments.

Nice Dobbs 40, jaunty tilt and a big grin too. ;)

I'm feeling (cobalt) blue today. Borsalino Trionfo, 30s/40s era.

Exceptionally beautiful, z!

...that Dobbs has to be my favorite thus far. Excellent!:eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap

Thank you for your generous comments, Josh! I love the lines and proportions on these early fedoras as well, but as you well know, they are hard to come by, especially in my size.

Al and Zetwal: very fine looking hats. Good on ya mate!

Dennis, thanks as always for your kind words, my friend. I just now saw the photo of your beautiful family. Hat is pretty, too!

What a delight, to be treated to so many wonderful photos on the thread after returning from our trip this weekend. Now for my belated compliments to all:

Rusty: Fantastic images of you and your wife on the Little Red River. Your VS Milan looks super, but what is your wife wearing?

Johnny Dollar: Welcome to the lounge, and a great looking Dobbs lid for your Easter bonnet. Beautiful photo of the Inner Harbor, too!

Dennis: I love the photos you post of your family. Gorgeous lid, as well, and an excellent choice for Easter Sunday!

Alan: A wonderful array of splendid photos. The ones of your parents are compelling and particularly touching.

James: Outstanding pictures of you in the field! What a magnificent vista!

Jeff: I can see that you are a real Man, but I want to see some more photos of you wearing your lids in Myrtle Beach. My goodness you and your wife were down there a long time!

Well, since Easter has come and gone, and it is 90 degrees in D.C. right now, I decided it was time to make the switch over to straw.

Panamabob Caballero with a new ribbon I put on.
