Thank you... and yes, that is our premier Wright - the Darwin Martin House, now under a major restoration effort. Donna and I were married in it a long time ago when it was owned by the University of Buffalo alumni association, and we actually considered buying the gardener's cottage when it was for sale 25 years ago. It's a stones throw from my office.

The Gardener's Cottage looks charming. Would have made a fascinating abode for you and Donna, but for the sake of historical integrity I am glad it was purchased by the MHRC.

The Martin House's turbulent history is somewhat reminiscent of Wright's Robie House.

It's been a while since I posted a hat of the day since I've found I'm usually wearing the same few hats to work these days. Today, though, in honor of St Patrick's Day I wore my green Dobbs Gay Prince. Please excuse the poor picture quality; it's taken with an iPhone in a network closet at one of the campuses I support.

It was listed at $65,000 in those days and it was a wreck. The house eventually sold to a graduate architecture student who I met - he and his wife lived in it without window shades out of concern for drilling holes into sacred wood. I think the project bought it back for $500,000 several years ago... a good mark-up for Buffalo real estate.

On the path to Goodsell Observatory. Patch of late afternoon sunlight in front of Hulings Hall.

Blimey... how did I miss this adventure. Did you get to observe through the 16" Brashear? Wonderful that these scopes are available for public use. The 19" Clark at Dearborn Observatory at Northwestern still has public nights every clear Friday.

Admirable! A reminder that, as with many things(vintage lids being a good example), we are but stewards for humanity during the time they are in our possession.
