Akubra Squatter - Then & Now

A few days ago I wore the Akubra Squatter with a deep telescope teardrop and low crown like this (which is not too far from the traditional look of the Squatter):

Well ok. Never let it be said that I can't cop criticism. Mario felt that the crown was a bit low for the combination of wide brim and wide melon (though he's way too polite a gent to put it that way). I reckon he had a point, so I remodelled the crease to a wide centre-dent which raised the crown quite a bit.

So today, it looked like this:

wow, you miss a couple of days and gotta play serious catch up...

cold and snowy, so went ear-flap-flat-cappin' today

and grilled last night in the campdraft

GClark: love the vs Tucker, the shape of the brim is "perfect"

Garrett: like the crease on the Trionfo, it's the first tugboat I've seen that's level on the back 1/2

Mario: you have some great hats, where do you find 'em?; that's a sharp technicolor thin ribbon you have, the maroon goes great with the grey

Jauntyone: I love the contrasting thin ribbon w/ your dark suit, great way to tie it together w/ the hankerchief; I absolutly love that banker grey beaver brand. as soon as I saw your posts, it made it to my list of "gotta have it" hats; looks like it's time to get your son a vintage navy coat :)

Billyspew: really like the Adam LBJ with the wool coat, great look; awesome bowler hat tie; knocking me out with that Steston Sovergn Mode Edge, that's a classic hat!

Lefty: those pics at Indigo lake are awsome! I don't have the "cool" were that style, I'll humbly put on my columbia coat and go for a hike; I love the old life photos that they're posting on google images.

rlk: very nice Resistol dress hat. really like the color

handlebar bart: love the whole look of the tan cavanagh and the dark chocolate jacket, and your pose is "stylin"

gtdean48: love the blue smoke hat, really nice proportions

Scott Wood: like the stockman, wish I could pull off the "outback" style brim

jharrell: really like the stetson downs, is there much taper to it?

Salty O'Rourke: saw the campdraft when it was posted the first time around, as much as I hate to see a thin ribbon go that way, it's a nice looking lid; not sure what the "important function" was but I bet someone ended up in a river with concrete shoes :) I love the look of the 3 piece suits, I have one myself.

deanzat: like the stylemaster, it's on my "short list" of ones to buy.

BobC: how easy is it to keep a black hat clean? I've avoided 'em because of that

Ephraim Tutt: nice job on the Borsalino!; I like the squatter with the new crease!

NeilA: how do you like the Jaxon C-Crown, is it the "crushable" one or the felt one? I was thinking about getting one of these as a kick around hat.

Rob,

Good idea with the ear-flap-cap.

Sometimes a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.

It got so cold here earlier this month I was wearing a Harris Tweed cap with and insulated hood over it.[huh]

Looks good this way, but I think the telescope would also look good with a bit less swoop--a slightly flatter brim treatment. Have it both ways.

Now we're talking! Much better if you ask me (... :D).
A lot more balanced proportions on the hat and also in relation to your noggin.
Well done! :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap
I agree in the fashion sense, wholeheartedly:eusa_clap , but if you are out in weather, on horseback or fixing fence in a blow, htat low profile snug down on that melon would be what you would need, thus the original design;)

Today, and most days in fact, I am wearing my only real hat, a gray, rather small, extremely beat up fedora from New York Hat Co.
